Video: Diwali celebrations breakout as 500 people engage in Khalistan v. India mass brawl in Mississauga

Garbage from what appears to be used fireworks litters the ground where the stand-off took place. One group can be seen waving Indian flags, while the other held banners supporting the Khalistan referendum movement.

Inside the Shameful Cancellation of Jihad Rehab

How an identity-politics-obsessed mob destroyed a young filmmaker’s documentary

At the beginning of director Meg Smaker’s documentary Jihad Rehab, we hear a former Guantanamo detainee saying, “Meg, can I tell you something?” Sure, a woman’s voice says. “In every story there is good and bad,” the man goes on in a gentle Saudi accent. “But . . . it’s a thin line. The American government did bad, bad, bad things against us. But at least I am honest with what I did.”

Serial Killers Are Too White

But equity and diversity are helping minority serial killers make strides.

Netflix’s new Jeffrey Dahmer movie is revisiting stereotypes of serial killers as white men. The FBI however informs us that, “Contrary to popular belief, serial killers span all racial groups. There are white, African-American, Hispanic, and Asian serial killers. The racial diversification of serial killers generally mirrors that of the overall U.S. population.” We’ve come a long way, baby.

The Anti-White Lie Behind Multiculturalism

Like America, Canada is a nation comprised of people from around the world. And like America—perhaps even more than America—Canada is wearing racial blindfolds that make the government incapable of seeing that, just as “people of color” represent many different races, lands, and cultures, the same is true for “pale faced” people. This blindness erases Canada’s rich ethnic history.

As an anthropologist who spent 17 years living and working in Sub-Saharan Africa, where Black lives really matter and where everyone belongs to a tribe with which they identify, it pains me that I must explain to fellow Canadians (and Americans) that pale-faced people are not all the same. Are they just one thing — that is, one ethnic group in contrast to the myriad of “others”? No.

Indo-Canadian novelist explores near-future dystopia

The author T.K. Kanwar lives the Canadian Dream, and he lives it in peace. As a second-generation Indian Canadian, he’s never admonished for his race, nor excluded from opportunity. On the contrary, he’s free to love and advocate for his people.

So why rock the boat when he could quietly live a life of opportunity and splendor? If anything, Kanwar might bolster his status by preaching the evils of white racism, the oppression of Black and Brown People.

Many do. Not Kanwar.

Global should know better – Garbage In Garbage Out

This: ‘A narrative that already exists’: How Toronto police prepared to publish data confirming systemic racism

The problem is the “data” did not confirm anything beyond the fact that it was skewed by design in order to push the preferred race-baiting narrative as Lorrie Goldstein so ably pointed out.

GOLDSTEIN: Here’s why we no longer talk honestly about police race-based data

… But what the report excludes are the crime rates in the various communities with which the police interact.

Logically that’s part of the equation because if they are higher in some communities than others, that will impact the frequency and type of their interactions with police.

However, it has been illegal for police forces in Ontario to gather or reveal this data for decades.

GOLDSTEIN: Policing report exposes flawed logic of race-crime statistics

… In other words, while Blacks were disproportionately charged by police compared to whites (15,122 per 100,000 compared to 3,853 per 100,000), whites were disproportionately charged by police compared to visible minority groups other than Blacks (3,853 per 100,000 compared to 2,116 per 100,000).

The problem with this logic is that it infers that for the police to prove they aren’t  racist, they must demonstrate the percentage of people they arrest and charge in every racial group reflects their percentage of the population.

Sundance Liked Her Documentary on Terrorism, Until Muslim Critics Didn’t

The film festival gave Meg Smaker’s “Jihad Rehab” a coveted spot in its 2022 lineup, but apologized after an outcry over her race and her approach.

Meg Smaker felt exhilarated last November. After 16 months filming inside a Saudi rehabilitation center for accused terrorists, she learned that her documentary “Jihad Rehab” was invited to the 2022 Sundance Festival, one of the most prestigious showcases in the world.

Film critics warned that conservatives might bridle at these human portraits, but reviews after the festival’s screening were strong.

“The absence of absolutes is what’s most enriching,” The Guardian stated, adding, “This is a movie for intelligent people looking to have their preconceived notions challenged.” Variety wrote:

The film “feels like a miracle and an interrogative act of defiance.”

But attacks would come from the left, not the right. Arab and Muslim filmmakers and their white supporters accused Ms. Smaker of Islamophobia and American propaganda. Some suggested her race was disqualifying, a white woman who presumed to tell the story of Arab men.

Link fixed.

Divide and Confuse

In addition to being condescending and divisive, the phrase “people of color” also obscures reality.

The expression “people of color” has always seemed to me in equal measure stupid, condescending, and vicious. It divides humanity into two categories, whites and the rest, or rather whites versus the rest; it implies an essential or inherent hostility between these two portions of humanity; and it implies also no real interest in the culture or history of the people of color, whose only important characteristic is that of having been ill-treated by, and therefore presumably hating, the whites. Compared with the phrase “people of color,” the language of apartheid was sophisticated and nuanced.

Leicester and the unravelling of multiculturalism

Leicester – Multicultural Vibrance

How identity politics is whipping up hatred and violence in our communities.

There are two disturbing things about the Muslim-Hindu clashes in Leicester. The first is the violence itself. Gangs of men have clashed across the city. Hundreds of Muslim and Hindu youths in balaclavas and Covid masks – those plague-era face-coverings still have their uses, it seems – have confronted each other on normally quiet suburban streets. Glass bottles have been thrown, a knife was allegedly wielded (one man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a ‘bladed article’). It really blew up on Saturday night into Sunday morning, as the rest of the country was preparing for the queen’s funeral. You couldn’t have asked for a better, more depressing snapshot of fragmented Britain: a display of solemn unity in Westminster, violent religious streetfighting in Leicester.

Kanye: ‘What The F*** Is Kwanzaa And Who Made That Bulls*** Up?’

On Wednesday, rap icon Kanye West, who confused many of his followers when he acted in a friendly manner toward former President Trump, issued a tweet (later deleted) in which he questioned the validity of the holiday Kwanzaa.

Kwanzaa was created by black activist Maulana Karenga in 1966; in 1971 he was convicted of felonious assault and false imprisonment. He currently serves as chairman of the Africana Studies Department at California State University, Long Beach. The Kwanzaa festival is observed starting the day after Christmas for 7 days, and involves celebrating seven Swahili values; a candle is lit each day on a candleholder.

GOLDSTEIN: Canada’s divider-in-chief is Trudeau, not Poilievre

While Conservative leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre keeps getting pounded by fellow leadership contenders, MPs in other parties and much of the media for dividing Canadians, suggesting he is the instigator of verbal attacks and threats aimed at Liberal and NDP politicians and journalists, let’s not forget who the divider-in-chief in Canada is.
