Nearly Half of House Democrats Vote To End American Aid to Israel

More than 100 House Democrats on Wednesday voted to zero out all American aid to Israel — a stunning shift in the level of support that the Jewish state has on Capitol Hill. The amendment from a Republican, Congressman Thomas Massie, would have stripped all aid to Israel out of this year’s annual funding bill for the state department and foreign aid. In the years since the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas on Israel, Democratic voters have shifted sharply against Prime Minister Netanyahu and continued American support for his country. One poll from the New York Times and Siena College in May found that 68 percent of Democratic voters oppose sending aid to Israel, compared to just 24 percent who said they support economic and military assistance.

CHARLEBOIS: Food safety needs an AI upgrade

CHARLEBOIS: Food safety needs an AI upgrade

Every summer, Canadians are reminded that fresh produce, while essential to a healthy diet, can also pose food safety risks. This year’s Cyclospora outbreak in the United States has already sickened more than 1,600 people, making it one of the largest in recent memory. Yet despite its scale, investigators have not identified the specific fruit, vegetable, farm or supplier responsible. Canada’s food regulators have appropriately resisted calls to suspend produce imports because there is simply no scientific evidence pointing to a particular commodity or country of origin. From a regulatory standpoint, that is the right decision. From a communications standpoint, however, we have an opportunity to do much better.

A Tehran billboard displayed an image of a dead President Donald Trump as Iran ramps up its death threats against the American president, after the collapse of the deal and ceasefire between the two countries.

Iran’s prisons are abattoirs and the Mullah regime killed tens of thousands of it’s own people in the lead up to the war.

Christopher Coates: Canada should double down on NORAD, not walk away

The recent Walrus article “Why Canada Needs to Walk Away from NORAD” points to the Netflix thriller “A House of Dynamite” and suggests that among the very “realistic” aspects of the film is the absence of Canadians from the command centres involved in the response to a nuclear attack on the U.S. or North America. Like the film, that suggestion is a fiction.

AI knows what you did online. Now your employer does, too

Leaving the wrong kind of digital footprint can sabotage your career. Maybe you thought you already knew this, but artificial intelligence is making it easier to trace your online history and efforts to cover your tracks can backfire.

Employers that once performed cursory internet searches for red flags on job candidates now use AI to dig deeper, more quickly. And, as adult-content platforms like OnlyFans and prediction markets surge in popularity, people are often unwittingly dropping more compromising breadcrumbs on the internet.

The era of ‘civilization-states’ is here. It’s up to the world’s middle powers to respond

The era of ‘civilization-states’ is here. It’s up to the world’s middle powers to respond

Beware when the world’s most powerful leaders talk of “civilization.” Their abuse of the term could spawn a new international order.

Russia is “an original civilization-state,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a prominent annual forum in Sochi in 2023, adding that “the world is on its way to a synergy of civilization-states.” The same year, Xi Jinping called China “the only great, uninterrupted civilization that continues to this day in a state form.” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi describes his own state as “the most refined idea of human civilization.”

Liberals pause ‘Give Grandma’s Hospital Bed To Some Freeloading Foreigner” Immigration Program

OTTAWA – The federal government will not accept any new applications this year from people who want to sponsor their parents and grandparents to come to Canada as permanent residents under a program meant to promote family reunification.

The Immigration Department said the change is part of an effort to responsibly manage the system and reduce wait times.

In a statement posted online, the department said interest in the program continues to exceed the number of available spaces.

Reduce wait times? This program should not exist. Bastards.

LILLEY: Why is Mark Carney hiring Americans for the PMO?

Mark Carney is a man of many firsts, but I wouldn’t have picked him to be the first prime minister to hire an American to help run the Prime Minister’s Office.

This week, it was reported that Carney was promoting a woman unknown to most Canadians to the position of chief operating officer in the PMO.

Moaning husband details hellish misery woke Canadian wife is suffering in ICE custody as she faces deportation for slapping teens wearing MAGA clothing

The husband of a Canadian woman who is set to be deported for allegedly slapping a teenage girl wearing MAGA-branded clothing says she is enduring hellish conditions inside a squalid immigration facility.

Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, is locked up at New Jersey’s notoriously grim immigration facility Delaney Hall, after being detained over an alleged assault on a teen during Fourth of July celebrations on the Jersey Shore.

Police said Tracey confronted a group of teenagers who were wearing ‘patriotic colored’ clothes, which were reportedly emblazoned with ‘Trump’ and ‘ICE’, before she allegedly slapped one of the teens.
