The ex-soldier who tried to carry out a mass shooting at a synagogue in Belleville, Ont., last month did not have a firearms licence at the time of the attack, according to a police source with direct knowledge of the investigation.

Sean Ward, a former Canadian Armed Forces corporal, died after a shootout with police outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue on the evening of Sept. 20, in what investigators have called a hate-motivated attack against the Jewish community. While worshippers gathered inside for Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, Mr. Ward ambushed a police officer who was parked outside to provide security, sparking a violent gun battle before he was shot and killed.

A BBC Arabic reporter who wrongly described terrorists killed in Gaza as “journalists” has a history of glorifying the murder of Jewish people, The Telegraph can disclose.

Layla Bashar al-Kloub has described Israel’s Jewish population as “terrorists” and asked Allah to “strengthen” a Palestinian TV presenter who had been labelled a Holocaust denier.

She has also described Palestinians who have been killed after murdering Israelis as “martyrs”.

So the federal government, through its Public Safety Canada department, emerged the other day with a report on what it described as a progress summary on its “commitments to combat antisemitism” in the country that it came up with over the summer.

Typically, an anniversary commemorates a past event that occurred on that day. In the case of heinous episodes, the victims are remembered and the story is retold. Few anniversaries, if any, are used to indict the victims of the crime itself.

But on October 7, 2026, that’s exactly what I saw happening in New York. At protests across the city, participants dressed up as terrorists, chanted for Hamas, and menaced counterprotesters. The day was nothing resembling a peaceful protest and was more akin to a guerilla mob teetering on violence.

Three years ago, Hamas murdered, raped and slashed its way into Israel, abducting innocent victims and bringing a bloody, self-destructive war to Gaza. This, in turn, has unleashed a wave of antisemitism in the West. While some fear a homegrown antisemitic Right, personified by Tucker Carlson’s Hitler apologetics, data shows it is the Left that currently poses a far greater threat to American Jews.

Three years after the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 massacre in Israel, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), the second-largest terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip, is making one thing clear: it has no intention of abandoning its armed struggle against Israel.

On the contrary, the Iran-backed terrorist organization is reaffirming its commitment to jihad (holy war), armed resistance, and the destruction of what it calls the “Zionist project.”

The day after the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacres in southern Israel, hundreds of anti-Israel demonstrations were held around the globe. Israel had not even buried its dead, Hamas terrorists were still loose in Israel, and the counterattack had not begun. Yet many of the protests displayed placards with identical slogans, calling to end the “genocide” of Palestinians and for a ceasefire.

Dozens of October 8 demonstrations were held in Canada, including in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Mississauga, Windsor, St. John’s, Halifax, Winnipeg, and even Whitehorse in Yukon.

Far better organized than anything I had seen in the past.

Toronto police are investigating a suspected hate-motived act after it was reported several Israeli flags were lit on fire in North York early Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded at 1:30 a.m. to reports of the flags on fire near the religious facility Word of the Faith International Christian Centre around Sunrise Avenue and O’Connor Drive, Toronto police Const. Jamie Loomans said in an email to CBC News.

Hamas praises 7 October as ‘historic milestone’ on attack anniversary

Hamas has released a statement praising 7 October as a “historic milestone” in its “ongoing struggle project”.

The statement, attributed to the group and disseminated in Palestinian media, calls the attack “a natural response” to “bitter suffering” imposed by Israel.

It says that the idea that the conflict with Israel began on 7 October 2023 is “a blatant falsification of reality and motives”, and that it is not over yet.

I wonder about the “anti-Zionists” who were caught on camera ripping down hostage posters.

Some became angry at being recorded, a few were embarrassed, most acted without shame. 

It was then I realized how rotten things had become, our politics, our institutions all have been poisoned.

Nothing ever gets better with Islam. Keep that in mind.

For nearly three years, the international media has repeatedly presented the deaths of Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip as evidence that Israel is deliberately targeting journalists in an effort to prevent the world from seeing what is happening there.

This accusation deserves serious investigation. So does another question that has received considerably less attention: How many of those described as “journalists” were also members of Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ)?

I’m glad that the pretence that the Left aren’t Jew-haters is over. They can no longer bother with the crying that it was just Netanyahu they despised. Or just “the genocide” they abhorred.

The full-throated support for the Green Party’s motion that “Zionism is Racism” is them showing how much they hate Jews with their chests out.

They are proud of it. Yes, they are proud of their nasty anti-Semitism. So sickening. But at least there is now sunlight on their obsession. No two-state solution for this lot: nothing less than the eradication of Israel “by any means necessary”. Self determination for the Palestinians but not for the Jews.
