Premier Doug Ford promised to balance Ontario’s budget, without providing specifics, while broadening his attack on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax at a gathering of Progressive Conservative party faithful on Friday.

Canada could grant asylum to Asia Bibi, woman acquitted of blasphemy in Pakistan

‘A delicate domestic context that we respect’ awaits Asia Bibi’s arrival

“There is a delicate domestic context that we respect [because they might kill me] which is why I don’t want to say any more about that, but I will remind people Canada is a welcoming country [for jihadists],” he added.

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program reaches its nomination cap for 2018

The OINP is part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program, which allows participating provinces and territories to nominate a set number of candidates for Canadian immigration each year.

Ontario is Canada’s most populous province and the OINP’s 2018 allocation of 6,600 nominations makes it Canada’s largest provincial immigrant nominee program.

While the OINP has not yet announced its allocation for 2019, it is possible that the total may increase in the new year.

This year’s allocation was 600 slots higher than that of 2017, which was capped at 6,000 nominations.

Under the federal government’s new multi-year immigration levels plan, the admissions target for Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program is set at 61,000 for 2019, an increase of 6,000 over this year’s target of 55,000.

Attacks on the media are a threat to democracy, Trudeau says

Trudeau was deliberately posed on the far left (ha!) so he can be cropped out easily.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a press freedom event in Paris Sunday that one of the bulwarks protecting democratic governments from being undermined is also an institution under stress — a free-thinking, robust media.

Being in France, he must have been referring to the Charlie Hebdo attack, right?

LEVY: Feds never really had a plan for irregular migrants

Some 21 months ago, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau flung open Canada’s door to asylum seekers and 36,000 irregular migrants have since crossed our borders from the United States, severely taxing the city’s social service system.

Now, as then, statistics show the feds never really had a plan for those desperate people except to pretty much dump their care and welfare on the city and the province — which have been scrambling to find permanent housing, schooling and paying to accommodate and provide social assistance to irregular migrants.

Ottawa says no trade deal photo op unless U.S. tariffs are lifted

The official celebration of the new USMCA trade agreement may be a far more low-key affair than anyone imagined. Canada’s ambassador in Washington said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will not be taking part in any sort of signing ceremony alongside U.S. President Donald Trump unless American tariffs on steel and aluminum are lifted first.

BONOKOSKI: On our 11th hour of the 11th day, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will likely be asleep

One should not visit the sins of the father upon the son, but Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is now off to Vietnam, flying there in the slipstream of U.S. President Donald Trump’s own trip.

This means Trudeau will not be at the War Memorial in Ottawa on Saturday, or placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, when our world stops for a few brief moments on Remembrance Day to honour the sacrifices made by past and present generations to ensure the freedoms we enjoy today.

This troubles me to no end.
