How Canada’s embrace of Chinese EVs could scramble the American market

Americans will soon catch a glimpse of something North American politicians once tried to keep far away: cheap Chinese electric vehicles.

As Canada begins importing the EVs, U.S. residents in border cities like Detroit and Buffalo, New York, may see their northern neighbors at the wheel. Or American tourists visiting Canada may experience brands like Xiaomi, Leapmotor and BYD when taking a ride-share.

It’s a situation that the U.S. and Canada sought to avoid for years, worried that the introduction of China’s low-cost, high-tech EVs would undermine domestic automakers and lead to Chinese surveillance. But President Donald Trump’s 25 percent tariff on Canadian autos and auto parts has scrambled the North American auto market.

Belarus training migrants to fight Europe’s border guards

Belarus is training migrants to fight European border guards, the head of Latvia’s security service has said.

In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, Normunds Mežviets said the migrants were being trained in combat at special camps and pushed across the European Union’s borders into Poland and the Baltic states.

Tens of thousands of migrants have been transported across the frontier in recent years as part of Russia’s escalating hybrid war with the West.

Josh Dehaas: There was no sedition, Mr. Carney

There was never any question what Prime Minister Mark Carney thought about the Freedom Convoy protesters in Ottawa. In a Globe and Mail op-ed published on Feb. 7, 2022, the “Ottawa resident and former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England” wrote that the convoy was “terrorizing” people, that women were being forced to “flee abuse,” and that the elderly were “afraid to venture outside their homes.” He accused the organizers of “blatant treachery” and “sedition,” and proposed the government respond by “choking off the money.”

Guardian amends ‘antisemitic’ opinion piece about Gail’s bakery

The Guardian has amended an opinion piece about Gail’s bakery after it caused controversy among readers, Jewish staff and the boss of the high street chain.

The article was edited on Tuesday evening to clarify a reference to the opening of a branch as “an act of heavy-handed high street aggression”.

Published on Saturday under the headline “A corner of north London where food has become a battleground in the Israel-Gaza war”, the article by Jonathan Liew prompted accusations of antisemitism against the Jewish-heritage business.

Is MAiD replacing palliative care in Canada?

Called a “medical error” by physician Romayne Gallagher, palliative care options for Canadians seem to be few and far between.

This is a problem Canada has faced for years — and instead of solving it, many are resorting to euthanasia.

Those who opt for Canada’s Medical Assistance in Dying program, or MAiD, under Track 1, which includes patients whose deaths are “reasonably foreseeable,” must experience unbearable suffering from a grievous or irremediable illness.

Dutch Parliament Moves To Ban Muslim Brotherhood

The Dutch parliament has voted to ban the Muslim Brotherhood, marking a significant escalation in efforts to counter Islamist influence in Europe.

The motion, backed by a majority of MPs on Tuesday, also calls for action against “affiliated organisations” linked to the group. This follows a wider European campaign scrutinising the ‘Brotherhood’s’ work—albeit, far less focussed than in the U.S.

Canada reports first annual population decline on record! Corporate Titans live in fear they will not be able to suppress wages!

Canada’s population declined by more than 100,000 people in 2025, marking the first annual decline in records that date back to the 1940s, as the federal government tries to rein in the number of temporary residents in the country.

The population decreased by 103,504 people, or 0.25 per cent, between Oct. 1, 2025, and Jan. 1, 2026, according to new estimates from Statistics Canada. This followed a decline of roughly 76,000 in the third quarter.

No matter the question the answer is always More 3rd World Migrants!

LILLEY: Woman who threatened Mark Carney is no free speech hero

A Toronto woman who made online threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney is being held up as a martyr for freedom of speech when, in reality, she’s a public nuisance and possible danger.

Nicole Pearen Miske, posted about Carney on Feb. 10 and made a threat that police found out about and had to investigate.

It seems a bit overblown to me. A civilian on the receiving end of that nonsense would likely be told the police could do nothing.

What’s So Great About Diversity?

‘Diversity is our strength.’ One hears this, or myriad variants of the same idea, unrelentingly. Certainly I work in an Australian university where the extent of higher-ups pushing this notion does indeed qualify as unrelenting, even matching totalitarian state levels of propaganda. But even outside the hallowed halls of impartial, politically balanced academia (did I write that with a straight face?) the mantra or cliché that diversity somehow delivers a stronger balance sheet or a more cohesive society or just better outcomes is pervasive in today’s democracies that have committed themselves to multiculturalism and to the various neo-Marxist versions of feminism. Sure, those spouting these ‘diversity is a panacea’ nostrums never cash out the claim. They never tell us precisely how ‘diversity’ is making society better or wealthier or more unified. We are all just supposed to take it on faith, as it were. We’re just to believe the bureaucratic, political and various professional bodies’ elites who push this line, and believe it simply because they are the ones telling us it’s so.

From Montreal Labs to Tampa Streets: How a Canadian Synthetic Opioid Network Tied Chinese Precursor Suppliers to Mexican Cartel-Linked Indo-Canadian Gangs

TAMPA/MONTREAL — Almost two years after Canadian federal police raided two synthetic opioid labs in Quebec and seized millions of deadly pills, a 49-year-old Montreal-area man has been indicted on charges of importing a narcotic three times more lethal than fentanyl into the United States — a case that connects, through prior federal filings, to a Chinese fentanyl precursor supplier and Mexican cartel-linked trafficking network operating out of Vancouver.

Islamophobia and real fear

Democrats excel at warping the English language, making it say things it was never intended to say. There is “American gun culture,” which amounts to our unalienable, express Second Amendment rights. There are “assault weapons,” a term that exists nowhere in firearm nomenclature, but which in Virginia includes break action, single shot .410 shotguns. And there is “Ultra MAGA,” which is Normal Americans who apparently really want America to be great, prosperous and secure—the horror.
