A former mosque leader from Brighton is suspected of giving a speech in front of young children saying armed conflict and violence was their ‘religious obligation’, a court heard.

Abu Bakr Deghayes is charged with encouraging terrorism by saying ‘Jihad is compulsory’ at evening prayers and making stabbing motions.

The 53-year-old allegedly told the congregation that ‘scholars fought the enemies of Allah’.

 

I bet this never happens at a Canadian mosque. Not that we would know, the authorities don’t monitor them.

A British sales consultant has been convicted of ISIS membership after paying smugglers with Bitcoin to free the group’s supporters from detention camps in Syria.

Hisham Chaudhary, 28, using the cryptocurrency, received and transferred thousands of pounds to ensure breakouts from the Kurdish-run camps.

Chaudhary ran a propaganda, communications and funding operation for the terrorist organisation from his home in Leicester, central England.

Batley and Spen is a small, seemingly insignificant old mill town in the British Midlands. Its drabness and decay are depressing in their ordinariness, but behind these old tenement houses — where outside toilets have been clumsily reattached — is a seething rage no one is prepared to talk about. It’s the reason I have spent time there in the past, to try and force this conversation into the open.

And right now, these awkward truths are glaring the country in the face.

Boris Johnson slams Canadian anti-colonial protestors who raged ‘tear this b**** down’ as they toppled statues of the Queen and Queen Victoria and threw one of Captain Cook in a harbour

Boris Johnson today decried the violent mob who celebrated ‘tearing this b**ch down’ as they toppled and desecrated statues of Britain’s Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II during Canada Day protests sparked by the discovery of mass graves of indigenous schoolchildren.

In scenes reminiscent of the BLM protests where a ‘hit list’ of ‘racist’ statues in the US and UK was drawn up for destruction after the murder of George Floyd, the bronze sculptures of Britain’s current monarch and her great-great grandmother in Winnipeg were hauled down, daubed with red paint and even appeared to have been strangled with Mohawk flags.

With no police to be seen anywhere, protesters in orange led by members of the left-wing anti-colonial ‘Idle No More’ group campaigning for Canada Day to be cancelled, tied ropes to the necks of the statues and ripped them to the ground to chants of ‘no to genocide’ and ‘bring her down’ amid fury over the deaths of 1,000 indigenous children found buried in mass graves this month.

A rabbi of 13 years, he was used to giving speeches. This one, to mark the start of the Jewish festival of Shavuot on 16 May, should not, on the face of it, have been any different.

But that afternoon, events built to what he describes as a “crescendo”.

The independent inquiry into the Manchester Arena bombing of May 2017, in which 22 pop fans were killed by an Islamist extremist, has published the first volume of its report. It makes for chilling reading. The inquiry has found there were numerous ‘missed opportunities’ to confront Salman Abedi, the bomber, and potentially stop him from detonating the device in his rucksack. Most chilling of all is the reason given by one of the key security guards on patrol that evening as to why he failed to question Abedi. He was worried, he said, that asking a brown-skinned man why he was hanging around the arena might be construed as racist.

MP Slams Child Marriage, Admits It’s ’Prevalent in Certain Communities‘

Conservative MP Sajid Javid has said allowing children under 18 to marry is “child abuse”, admitting it was a cultural practice “prevalent in certain communities”.

Mr Javid, who had served as home secretary and chancellor of the exchequer, made the remarks after drafting a Bill to scrap the legal loophole which allows underaged people to be coerced into marriages. Under current law, 16- and 17-year-olds can marry with their parents’ consent in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. In Scotland, the legal age to marry without parental support is 16.

Teacher suspended after showing a cartoon of cult idol Muhammad to pupils refuses to return to work over fears for his life

A teacher who was suspended after showing a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad to pupils during an RE lesson has refused to return to work over fears for his life – despite being cleared of causing deliberate offence and told that he could have his job back.

He continues to remain in hiding with his family and has permanently left the housing association property they shared near Batley.

The family have been rehoused at a secret location with not even close relatives being informed about where it is.
