Carney accelerates Canada’s fiscal collapse

To get straight to the point about the federal government’s spring economic update: the Liberals are spending even more of our money than they previously estimated. This fiscal year, program spending is now expected to be $536.2 billion, which is $7.6 billion higher than in the fall budget. The new spending projections for the following year are also higher than in the fall budget, and the same for the year after that, and even the year after that. All told, the Liberals’ economic update raises program spending by a cumulative $25 billion over four years versus their fall budget and they now propose to push spending to $575.4 billion by 2029-30.

In the United States, mass protests against authoritarianism are gathering under the banner “No Kings.” These rebukes allege that Donald Trump is something “un-American”: a king.

Supposedly, America is the land that does not have kings. America is said to represent freedom, opposing the authoritarian oppression that monarchs can signify. The protesters’ thinking goes like this: Get rid of Mr. Trump, America’s King, and the United States would again become “the land of the free,” because America is freedom and kings are tyrants.

Woke Midwest city spends $18,000 of taxpayer cash removing neighborhood watch signs after lawmakers branded them RACIST

Liberal lawmakers of a city in Michigan spent thousands of taxpayers’ dollars to rip out neighborhood watch signs after labeling them racist.

Ann Arbor officials posted a video on Wednesday of the last of 600 signs being torn down as they explained how they want the city to be a place of inclusivity.

‘Frankly, neighborhood watch signs are expressions of exclusion, and they’re inconsistent with our values,’ said Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor.

Avi Lewis accuses Ottawa of ‘anti-Palestinian racism’ over Gaza student delays

OTTAWA — NDP Leader Avi Lewis is accusing the federal government of “anti-Palestinian racism” over delays affecting more than 130 students from Gaza who have been accepted to Canadian universities but remain unable to travel.

Speaking on Parliament Hill Thursday, Lewis said the students who have secured admissions and some scholarships — are facing barriers that prevent them from completing their applications, including requirements for biometric data collection in a region where such services are unavailable.

Sex Crime Rises Across Europe as Western Nations Top the List

New figures from Eurostat show that sexual violence offences across Europe continued to rise in 2024, with sharp differences between Western and Eastern countries likely to intensify debate over the link between crime and migration.

Police recorded 256,302 sexual violence offences in 2024, including 98,190 cases of rape. This represents a 5% increase in sexual violence overall and a 7% rise in rape compared with 2023.

A singer in China’s famous Beijing Opera, Danyang Yang flew to Vancouver in 2014 to have her baby in a Canadian hospital. She did so to deliver another child in 2017, like thousands of other so-called birth tourists who come to Canada each year.

Canada has likely never had a Prime Minister as smitten with Europe as Mark Carney.

Since taking office, Mr. Carney has travelled to more than 10 European countries and been to France and Italy twice. On his first trip to Paris, barely three days after his swearing in, he even referred to Canada as “the most European of the non-European countries.” Canada has since signed several serious-sounding, but non-binding, pacts with the European Union drawing us, at least rhetorically, closer to Europe.

Canada’s youth unemployment ‘a crisis’ as numbers rise

In the wake of the federal government’s spring mini-budget boasting about the resilience of the economy, a new study finds youth unemployment in Canada increased from 10% in 2022 to 13.8% in 2025, the largest three-year increase on record when the economy was not in a recession.

The report by the Fraser Institute says that last year, 437,000 young people between 15 and 24 years of age looked for a job but could not find one, up 57% from 290,000 in 2022.

Carney government eyes privatizing airports to attract investment, cut travel costs

OTTAWA—The federal Liberal government is looking at selling Canadian airports off to private owners saying it wants to streamline operations and passenger services, attract more business investment to Canada, and even direct possible proceeds into a national sovereign wealth fund.

The morning after the spring economic update hinted at the government’s plans, Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon downplayed the prospect of any swift moves to privatize.

He told reporters Wednesday “we’re in the early stages of a process with airport authorities and other partners to determine the best way forward.”
