A gun-for-hire network is behind several shootings in the GTA over the past several months, including the shooting at the U.S. consulate earlier in March, Chief Myron Demkiw announced at a news conference Tuesday.
The investigation involves at least six shooting incidents in the GTA linked to a nine-millimetre handgun and at least 21 shooting incidents in the GTA tied to a 45-calibre handgun, Demkiw said. Police recovered both guns during an operation last week, Demkiw said Tuesday, adding that the firearms originated from the United States.

Today, no one reasonably well-informed doubts that America faces serious perils. And notwithstanding President Trump’s strong foreign policy leadership, the greatest threats to our country still come from within, rather than from foreign adversaries.
Recent statistics indicate that violent crime has decreased from 2024 to 2025 by an estimated 9.3 percent, in categories such as murder, robbery, rape, aggravated assault, and property crime. These are conventional crime categories reported to police. However, “lawlessness” can mean different things to different people.
OTTAWA — For the first time, a Federal Court judge has authorized Canada’s intelligence service to hack into privately owned routers, servers and household internet devices across the country and disarm the malicious software that conscripts them into foreign botnets — virtual armies implanted by hostile states to act as trojan horses, attacking critical Canadian infrastructure from within Canadian homes — a power the court itself acknowledged would otherwise be a crime.
Americans are used to handouts for favored groups. Canadians often blame grocery stores, food manufacturers or governments for food waste. Yet much of the waste occurs in our own kitchens, often for one simple reason: We misunderstand food date labels.
New survey data from the Agri-Food Analytics Lab in partnership with Caddle, based on responses from 3,000 Canadians, reveal that the vast majority of households continue to throw away food once it passes its use-by date. While only 11% of Canadians said they always discard food after the date has passed, another 20% do so often and 37% do so sometimes. In other words, nearly seven in 10 Canadians allow date labels to influence their decision to dispose of food.

In debating a social media ban for minors, it appears we face a choice between two perceived harms. One is the reported damage that social media is doing to the mental health of children and adolescents. The other is the normalization of mass age verification systems—most likely involving biometrics—that would apply to everyone, not just minors. This carries real risks of privacy invasion, data breaches, and future mission creep.

Federal investigators executed search warrants at the headquarters of a Soros-aligned voter mobilization organization in Ohio as part of what sources described as an ongoing fraud investigation.
