Outrage in Italy After Man Accused of Raping 13-Year-Old Is Released

Italy’s political row over judges’ lenient handling of migrant criminals has intensified after a 42-year-old Bangladeshi shop assistant accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in the outskirts of Turin was released from prison after just two nights.

The crime occurred on Saturday, August 29th in Madonna di Campagna, a multi-ethnic district in the northern Italian city.

According to the girl’s account, she entered a minimarket to buy three fruit drinks for her younger siblings. She said the shop assistant gave her a drink, asked whether she had a boyfriend and how old she was, before sexually assaulting her.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick continues to accuse Canada’s prime minister of “trying to blow up” a deal with the United States to gain “political leverage.”

“This is about the Liberal Party and Mark Carney trying to use a kerfluffle with the United States to gain political leverage,” he said during a television interview with U.S. network CNBC on Wednesday.

“They’ve got an independent party, the sovereign party vote in Quebec on October 5. They’ve got an independence vote that starts the process (in) Alberta, who always feels ripped off by Ottawa and the left of Canada,” Lutnick said.

Masar Badil, the organizer, calls the attack “one of the most courageous acts of resistance in our lifetimes” and a “glorious feat.” Its own conference announcement says “armed resistance” is the means by which Israel should be confronted and invites an “assembly of militants” for “relationship-building” and political organization.

The prototype was more than battle rifle heavy, and included a two-pound optic that tried to do everything but write home to mother. It had a suppressor that rapidly overheated, a folding stock, and two separate (?!) charging handles.

The Liberals, of course, won all three federal byelections on Monday.

Two of these were unremarkable. Vancouver’s North Vancouver-Capilano and Toronto’s Beaches-East York were considered safe Liberal seats. The Liberals won the Vancouver riding by 26 percentage points in the 2025 general election and the Toronto riding by 44 points.

The result? A lot of “Conservative Party” establishment types who haven’t accomplished anything since mid Harper are bitching and complaining about populists and Alt-right MAGA types ruining their afternoon naps.

Whatever one thinks of Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate for Senate from Michigan — he looks good to me — many people see the most important task as preventing his opponent, the anti-Israel Muslim Abdul el-Sayed, from becoming a senator. El-Sayed has denied that the Jewish state has a right to exist. He has repeatedly accused Israel of committing “genocide.” El-Sayed’s birth mother, Fatten Elkomy, worked for the Islamic American Relief Agency, also known as the IARA. The U.S. Treasury Department in 2004 designated the network as an organization supporting terrorism, including support for Osama bin Laden and Hamas. Treasury documents also stated that as early as 2003, the organization was “responsible for moving funds to the Palestinian territories for use in terrorist activities, notably serving as a conduit to Hamas in one Western European country.”

Many Canadians are furious about the US-Canada trade negotiations, now termed a ‘trade war’ by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. On August 22, after trade talks had collapsed, Carney told the media that when you are attacked, it is a war. “War” gives an excuse to be hostile, to walk away, to divorce, to look for other lovers, not to make up, and make a deal.

What is curious to me is that climate policies have not been mentioned, because if they were, the public might know the US was attacked first. And they would know who one of the attackers was. Let us look at the US-Canada trade issues through a climate lens.

A mental health nurse failed to check on a patient she held a ‘grudge’ against for almost half an hour before she took her own life.

Laurence Tchapong, 54, should have carried out observations every five minutes on Amy Barber, 22, at the Brooklands psychiatric intensive care unit at Clatterbridge Hospital, Wirral.

But Liverpool Crown Court heard that the nurse resented Ms Barber for complaining about her sleeping on the job and had not checked on her for 25 minutes.
