Carney Secures Islamist Vote Bloc: Canada recognizes State of Palestine, offers help to build peaceful future with Israel

Canada now officially recognizes the State of Palestine and is doing so with international partners to preserve the prospect of a two-state solution, according to a statement from Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office released Sunday morning.

“Over many decades, Canada’s commitment to [a two-state solution] was premised on the expectation that this outcome would eventually be achieved as part of a negotiated settlement,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.

However, that possibility “has been steadily and gravely eroded” by several developments, including the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack on Israel, the Israeli parliament’s resolution supporting annexation of the occupied West Bank and the Israeli government’s restrictions on humanitarian aid.

Carney and the LPC will do anything for the Muslim vote.

Canadians aren’t mad at America anymore. We’re hurt, suspicious, and moving on

It has been nine months since Donald Trump returned to the White House, and in that time has upended the world order around trade, relentlessly expressed an “America first” mentality, and mused about annexing Canada as the 51st state.

He also seems to have upended how Canadians see our southern neighbour.

I was never mad at Trump or America.

I remain angry that Canada is run as a 2nd rate fiefdom by our profiteering elites who deliberately undermine citizens at every turn.

‘Sharp increase’ of known or suspected terrorists entering U.S. from Canada, FBI director testifies

FBI Director Kash Patel says there has been a “sharp increase of known or suspected terrorists” entering the U.S. through Canada.

He made the remarks during a U.S. house oversight hearing on Wednesday. Patel was responding to a question from Republican Congressman Kevin Kiley, who asked about the risk of terrorism posed by illegal border crossings.

Patel claimed that, since he rose to the helm of the bureau, there had been a significant drop in known or suspected terrorist crossings from the southern border, but a sharp increase from the north.

Jewish groups, antisemitism envoy urge politicians not to use hate to score points

OTTAWA – After an outgoing federal envoy denounced some politicians for using antisemitism as a “partisan” prop, Jewish Canadian leaders are now calling on political parties to stop using it to score political points.

“It maddens me when they use Holocaust Remembrance Day as an opportunity to even advance positive actions for the Jewish people,” said B’nai Brith advocacy head Richard Robertson.

“It becomes a form of tokenization.”

Trump adds $100,000 fee for skilled worker visa applicants

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that will add a $100,000 (£74,000) annual fee for applicants to the H-1B visa programme for skilled foreign workers.

Trump’s order mentions “abuse” of the programme and will restrict entry unless payment is made.

Critics have long argued that H-1Bs undercut the American workforce, while supporters – including billionaire Elon Musk – argue it allows the US to attract top talent from around the world.

Canadians are leaving emergency rooms untreated in droves

Canada is facing an epidemic that most politicians simply won’t talk about – a staggering number of patients are left untreated because they leave emergency rooms rather than endure long wait times.

A new study from the Montreal Economic Institute (MEI) shows that, out of the 16.3 million visits Canadians made to emergency rooms in 2024, nearly 8% ended with the patient simply walking out without receiving treatment.

Is Mark Carney ditching progressive politics or saving it?

It’s become popular in Mark Carney’s new Liberal government to talk in sports metaphors. The prime minister often sprinkles his speeches with hockey references and the timing of the next major-project announcements has been repeatedly framed around forthcoming tournaments, such as the Grey Cup.

There aren’t many sports, though, in which backward movement is equated with success — perhaps the reverse-running trend that was supposedly catching on a few years ago? So there isn’t a handy way to compare what’s happening in progressive politics in Canada to something in the sporting world.

But there’s no question — in fact, a column in this very newspaper declared it’s already a cliche to say it — that a backsliding in progressivism is under way in the federal post-election world in Canada.

It’s called policy for profit and it’s spelled ‘Brookfield’.

6 in 10 Canadians say they can never trust Americans the same way again

Canadians are not feeling the trust with their neighbours south of the border after months of U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs against Canada, new polling by Ipsos conducted exclusively for Global News has showed.

Six in 10 Canadians (60 per cent) say they can never trust the Americans the same way ever again, the poll found.

“It looks to me, based on these data, that Canadians feel that their relationship with the United States has changed in a fundamental way,” Ipsos Public Affairs CEO Darrell Bricker said.

Canada ready to perform mass evacuation of Taiwan in case of Chinese invasion: officials

After Chinese President Xi Jinping’s government renewed a longstanding threat to seize control of Taiwan through force on Thursday, Canadian officials confirmed the military is prepared to conduct a mass evacuation of expatriates in the Indo-Pacific region.

Appearing before the House defence committee, Major-General Robert Ritchie told MPs the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) maintain the capability to perform a “non-combatant evacuation operation,” should a request be received from the federal government.

U.S. ambassador ‘disappointed’ with anti-American sentiment in Canada

The U.S. ambassador to Canada is expressing frustration over the anti-American sentiment he sees in this country, including from politicians, after U.S. President Donald Trump hit most of the world with tariffs.

Asked what surprised him about Canada since starting his new role in April, Pete Hoekstra said Thursday that what’s most “unexpected” is the country’s feelings about the U.S.

“I’m disappointed that I came to Canada — a Canada that it is very, very difficult to find Canadians who are passionate about the American-Canadian relationship,” Hoekstra said at an event hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.
