2. Some employers will provide employees with a choice. Return to work or continue to work remotely but with a 30 per cent cut in salary (or any amount the employer selects). If the employee has the option of coming to the office at the same remuneration, there is nothing illegal, nor is it a constructive dismissal for employers to offer this alternative.

We’ve heard repeatedly during the past year that until mass vaccination is achieved, the key to managing the Covid-19 epidemic is controlling human behaviour. Yet as cases in the UK continue to spiral, with stricter social restrictions being implemented every few days, a key question remains: is anyone complying any more?
Compliance has been one of the most misunderstood and misrepresented concepts of this pandemic. During the first wave of the virus back in the spring, there was concern that a lengthy lockdown would lead to “behavioural fatigue” and diminishing compliance with social restrictions. In fact, “behavioural fatigue” was not a scientific concept but a political one, neither supported by research from previous epidemics nor by data that subsequently emerged from our lockdown (over 97% showed good compliance with the rules, with no meaningful decrease from March to May). During emergencies, humans are actually primed to act in the collective interest, as we saw from the sacrifices made by people in the spring of 2020 across the UK.

Iran said it is moving quickly to enrich uranium up to 20 percent purity at a site hidden inside a mountain, a level it achieved before the 2015 nuclear deal.
“We are like soldiers and our fingers are on the triggers,” Ali Akbar Salehi, the US-educated head of the civilian Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said on state television Saturday. “The commander should command and we shoot. We are ready for this and will produce (20 percent enriched uranium) as soon as possible.”

President Donald Trump announced that evidence of alleged election fraud will be presented on Jan. 6 during the Joint Session of Congress.
“Massive amounts of evidence will be presented on the 6th. We won, BIG!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
It comes as Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and about 40 House GOP lawmakers have announced they would challenge the Electoral College votes during the Jan. 6 Joint Session of Congress due to alleged fraud and irregularities during the Nov. 3 election. The challenge could lead to several hours of debate during the session.

France: More than 2,500 break virus restrictions at illegal rave
An illegal warehouse rave that began on New Year’s Eve in France in defiance of coronavirus precautions has been shut down by police after arrests and clashes.
Some of the 2,500 ravers in Lieuron near Rennes in Brittany had planned to party until Tuesday.
Police issued fines to revellers found leaving and the organisers were being identified as the party ended.
Linamar doubles dividend while receiving more than $108 million in government emergency wage subsidies
As the global economy crumbled, and automotive sales around the world plunged during the COVID-19 pandemic, Guelph-based auto parts maker Linamar was feeling flush with cash.
So much so that at the end the third quarter, it announced it was doubling its dividend, from six cents per share, to 12 cents. That move meant Linamar would now be paying its shareholders almost $8 million every three months.

The party released a statement saying Manitoba member of Parliament Niki Ashton travelled to Greece recently to visit a family member who was seriously ill.

‘Teens’ wanted for murder of Calgary police officer turn themselves in
Two teenagers were arrested Friday evening on first-degree murder warrants in relation to the New Year’s Eve death of Calgary police Sgt. Andrew Harnett.
Investigators believed a 17-year-old was behind the wheel of the vehicle when it struck Harnett. Global News is not naming the 17-year-old in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He and the 19-year-old passenger, Amir Abdulrahman, are both charged with murder, and turned themselves in at police headquarters at about 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Democrats Have Objected to Electoral Vote Certification For the Last 3 GOP Presidents
Democrats are outraged that Republicans are planning on objecting to the certification of electoral votes. It’s “conspiracy and fantasy,” says Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
“The effort by the sitting President of the United States to overturn the results is patently undemocratic,” the New York Democrat said. “The effort by others to amplify and burnish his ludicrous claims of fraud is equally revolting.”
“This is America. We have elections. We have results. We make arguments based on the fact and reason—not conspiracy and fantasy,” he added.
There’s only one problem with Chucky’s “argument based on fact and reason.” Democrats have been challenging the electoral vote certification for 2 decades.
