For decades, discussions surrounding mass immigration into Western nations have largely been confined to two unproductive viewpoints. One perspective, which views culture as a superficial element and asserts the fundamental similarity of all human beings, suggests that immigrants primarily require sufficient time and opportunities to integrate. Conversely, the other attributes assimilation challenges to cultural values, patriarchal attitudes, or religious conservatism. Both approaches, however, exhibit an intellectual reluctance to delve deeper. What remains conspicuously absent from the prevailing discourse is an understanding rooted in developmental psychology and civilization theory. This framework offers significant explanatory power while avoiding genetic determinism and simplistic cultural explanations, yet it still presents genuinely uncomfortable truths.

Court defers deportation of mass murderer truck driver who caused Humboldt Broncos bus crash
Days from being deported, an 11th-hour decision by a Federal Court justice on Friday means that Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, who was found responsible for the fatal Humboldt Broncos bus crash in 2018, can stay in Canada for a little while longer.
Sidhu was behind the wheel of the semi-truck that blew through an oversized stop sign with a flashing yellow light, right into the path of the Saskatchewan junior hockey team’s bus, on April 6, 2018. The collision killed 16 players and staff and injured 13 others.
He was scheduled to be deported and board a plane for India early Monday morning.
Jamie Sarkonak: Canada keeps asking non-citizen criminals to stop. They obviously don’t
In 2017, a permanent resident of Canada named Mudasar Hussain was convicted of dealing drugs. Here was an opportunity to return him to his home country of Pakistan, but the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) didn’t take it: instead, it sent him a “stern warning letter” advising him that it wouldn’t take enforcement action if he stayed out of trouble — even though he was now considered inadmissible.
It’s clear are our government is comprised of criminal idiots.

A southern Ontario man has been sentenced for abducting a child almost three years ago in northern Ontario.
Manoj Govindbalunikam, the man who admitted to abducting a child in Thessalon in 2023, has been sentenced to 18 months behind bars.
The defence for the former Brampton, Ont., Realtor had argued previously that the situation was a cultural misunderstanding, adding that an extended sentence could impact Govindbalunikam’s ability to stay in Canada.

Every day, Sukhmani, an 11th grader from Scarborough, carefully ties her turban, a practice rooted in faith, discipline, and identity. But she says that the same visible expression of who she is has made her conscious of her identity.
“They are making fun of the fact that I am wearing a Dastaar now, making fun of the fact of me being vegetarian, making fun of the fact that I have hair on my arms and my legs. It’s really not the most encouraging thing to go through, especially right after the pandemic,” she says.
No one buys the article’s “Won’t somebody think of the children” opening anymore.

Joly credits immigrants for Terrebonne victory as Liberals targets African immigrants
OTTAWA — Liberal Industry Minister Mélanie Joly pointed to changing demographics following her party’s performance in the Terrebonne byelection, as new figures show Ottawa has spent millions promoting immigration from French-speaking countries abroad.
“Very important community from Haiti, also from northern Africa… things are changing across the country,” Joly said when asked about the result.
So we're not supposed to talk about the people whose ancestors built this country as a distinct group with distinct cultural interests, but we can applaud new people who show up and change the political fabric of the country to suit their particular interests? ……. https://t.co/wQna6PXCbS

There’s no reason for courts to be setting Canadian immigration policy
In a recent ruling, Court of Quebec judge Antoine Piché tore a strip off Crown prosecutors who appear before him for discounting sentences based on offenders’ immigration status, to avoid non-citizens being flagged for deportation — which is supposed to happen after a criminal sentence of six months or more is handed down.
I was most intrigued by Piché’s annoyance at the widespread insistence that this doesn’t happen. This is one of those Canadian phenomena that clearly exists — National Post has reported many such cases, many of which wouldn’t be known to the public otherwise — but that we’re supposed to pretend does not.

IRCC orders asylum claimants who crossed U.S. border irregularly to leave or face deportation
Asylum seekers who crossed the border from the United States irregularly and claimed asylum are being ordered by the immigration department to leave Canada as soon as possible or face being deported, after the passing of a new law tightening up asylum rules.
Immigration lawyers have expressed fears that many foreign nationals receiving warning letters from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will now cross back into the U.S. and be detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and deported.
And deported? They say that like it’s a bad thing.
