Prime Minister Mark Carney met with President Obama in Toronto in May 2026. He also met with Alex Soros at the same time. Alex Soros, son of financier George Soros, is assuming his father’s role as president of the Open Society Foundation (OSF). The OSF is criticized by four European countries for alleged interference in domestic politics. George Soros’s Super PAC, personal donations, “dark money” contributions, and the OSF have provided millions of dollars to the Democratic National Committee. In addition, Alex Soros and Huma Abedin (Chief of Staff for Hillary Clinton) met with Minister of Industry Mélanie Joly and former ambassador Frank McKenna (Chair of Brookfield Corp. and Deputy Chair of TD Bank Group) on July 13. Prime Minister Carney also hired Maia Johnson, who now serves as Senior Special Advisor for the US. Ms. Johnson is a longtime Democrat political operative, having worked on the presidential campaigns of Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris. This appears to be the first instance an American Democrat operative has been appointed to such a senior advisory position within the Canadian government.

September 11, 2026, marks 25 years since al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners and murdered nearly 3,000 innocent people in the deadliest terrorist attack in American history.

A generation of students has grown up with no memory of that day. What they understand about it depends on what we choose to teach them. Judging by some of the materials available, Americans should be concerned.

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer might not like to think of it as a trade “war,” but whatever you call it — a difference of opinion? an incongruity? the unpleasantness? — it’s now been going on for more than 19 months.

In February 2025, Donald Trump, in defiance of a free trade deal he himself signed in 2018, first announced tariffs on a number of Canadian products.

And it seems now it could be several more months before hostilities are reduced, let alone ceased.

Is it just me or is the CBC starting to walk things back for Carney?

Stellantis signs preliminary agreement to sell idled Brampton assembly plant to armoured car maker

Automaker Stellantis NV STLA-N says it has signed a preliminary agreement to sell its idled Brampton, Ont., assembly plant to armoured carmaker Roshel.

The Brampton factory stopped production in 2023 to retool to make the Jeep Compass, but the work was paused shortly after the U.S. placed 25-per-cent tariffs on Canadian-made cars in 2025. Stellantis last year said the Compass would instead be made in the U.S., leaving the future of the plant and 2,200 laid-off workers up in the air.
