Should Anything Be Off-Limits to Debate and Discuss?

Slate — the online magazine known for its provocative content—has indefinitely suspended one of its star podcasters, Mike Peska, for debating with a colleague, on an inter-office messaging platform, whether it is ever appropriate for a non-Black person to use the N-word in the context of a discussion about race. It is not clear whether in the course of the discussion Peska actually uttered the word itself or just used the term “n-word.”

In defending Slate’s decision, a Black staffer argued that “For Black employees, it’s an extremely small ask to not hear that particular slur and not have debate about whether it’s OK for white employees to use that particular slur.” Not have debate?

China: What to Do About It?

China: What to Do About It?

What does China really want?

Well, China really wants to rule planet Earth. It also wants to possess and rule the near portions of the solar system. No, I am not exaggerating. No nation in history has been this ambitious.

With regard to our planet, Xi Jinping wants the world to reject the current Westphalian international system, in place since 1648. In its place, he wants China’s imperial-era system, where Chinese emperors believed they not only had the right to rule tianxia, all under heaven, but also the heavens compelled them to do so.

San Fran Officials Demand School Board Member Resign After She Claimed Asians Use ‘White Supremacist Thinking’ To ‘Get Ahead’

San Francisco officials, including Mayor London Breed, are calling on the Vice President of the San Francisco school board, Alison Collins, to resign after tweets emerged showing Collins’ “anti-Asian bias.”

The shocking tweets show Collins accusing Asians of adopting “white supremacist ideology” and of working to become “model minorities” in order to take advantage of a “white supremacist” system that she claims is typically biased against people of color.

“Alison is personally committed to giving back to the public education system which helped her mother rise out of poverty and helped her father become one of the first Black professors at UCLA.”

Toyota Warns (Again) About Electrifying All Autos. Is Anyone Listening?

Toyota Warns (Again) About Electrifying All Autos. Is Anyone Listening?

…When Toyota offers an opinion on the car market, it’s probably worth listening to. This week, Toyota reiterated an opinion it has offered before. That opinion is straightforward: The world is not yet ready to support a fully electric auto fleet.

Toyota’s head of energy and environmental research Robert Wimmer testified before the Senate this week, and said: “If we are to make dramatic progress in electrification, it will require overcoming tremendous challenges, including refueling infrastructure, battery availability, consumer acceptance, and affordability.”

End Game: They don’t want you driving anything at all.

Federal Judge Alleges Democrats Are Close to Controlling All Major News Outlets

A federal judge this week said that the Democrat Party is close to controlling the press as he detailed what he described as shocking bias against Republicans.

D.C. Circuit Court Judge Laurence Silberman outlined his opposition to the Supreme Court’s key decision in 1964 in New York Times v. Sullivan, which has since protected many media outlets from lawsuits.

Silberman, a Reagan appointee, wrote that the ruling is “a threat to American Democracy” and must be overturned.

Corbella: Trudeau’s blaming of Mulroney on vaccine problems delusional, say experts

Corbella: Trudeau’s blaming of Mulroney on vaccine problems delusional, say experts

For months now, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has blamed everyone for Canada’s trickle of COVID-19 vaccines but himself.

Trudeau and his ministers have gone so far as to blame former Progressive Conservative prime minister Brian Mulroney — who was prime minister from 1984 to 1993 — for the privatization, or “the selling off“, of Connaught Laboratories. What he fails to mention is that Connaught Labs didn’t go anywhere. It’s now part of Sanofi Pasteur, the world’s largest manufacturer of vaccines. The Connaught Campus in Toronto accounts for one-fifth of the company’s global vaccine sales.

O’Toole’s pitch to get Conservatives to embrace ‘change’ may be off to a shaky start

Erin O’Toole told Conservatives this weekend that their party must change — because if it doesn’t, he said, it won’t be able to win the votes necessary to defeat Justin Trudeau’s Liberals in the next election.

And if the Liberals do win, he added, they’ll be able to implement their own changes — changes that O’Toole cast as frightening and potentially ruinous.

But O’Toole didn’t tell Conservatives exactly how they need to change. And then delegates delivered a potentially damaging vote on climate change policy that suggests his party base might not be ready to move very far.

Canada has a Gravy Train Class fed and maintained primarily by the LPC with an outsized influence on elections.

The corporate welfare class, our lifestyle political class, large swaths of the media, NGO’s by the score, public service unions etc. etc. etc.

Ontario and Quebec are it’s primary habitat.

They have no reason to switch allegiance.

Right now the LPC controls Banana production in Bananada and that isn’t about to change.

Maybe the problem is insoluble, perhaps a national split-up is the answer.

But I don’t believe remaking the party into an ersatz LPC is the answer.

I’ll be voting PPC.
