There was another time in U.S. history when a president was incapable of serving. His name was Woodrow Wilson, and he had had a stroke, a debilitating one. He never recovered. For about 18 months, the nation was without a president. World War I was over, and the country was on the cusp of the Roaring 20s, so perhaps having a leader wasn’t as imperative.
Tomorrow, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton will introduce legislation to ban critical race theory trainings in the United States military. The bill is concise, and desperately needed. As I have warned since last year, critical race theory and related ideologies have begun to make their way into the armed services, with some branches promoting “white fragility” book clubs and the West Point military academy teaching CRT as part of a leadership program.
Perhaps the most frightening thing happening in America is the weaponizing of race and gender. We need to be wary, because this is a war for power. This is a war to deny American citizens our Constitutional rights and to create a totalitarian society controlled by the woke left.
We must not allow this to happen, or it will mean the defeat of all the principles and all the freedoms that this country was built upon. The latest battle in this war is the media coverage of, and the Democrat talking points about, the horrific recent shootings in Atlanta. But I believe the war started years ago.

The federal government, the governments of states and localities run by the Democratic Party, along with the major corporations, the educational establishment, and the news media set strict but movable boundaries about what they may or may not say—on pain of being cast out, isolated from society’s mainstream. Using an ever-shifting variety of urgent excuses, which range from the coronavirus, to the threat of domestic terrorism, to catastrophic climate change, to the evils of racism, they issue edicts that they enforce through anti-democratic means—from social pressure and threats, to corporate censorship of digital platforms, to bureaucratic fiat. Nobody voted for this.
There is considerable turmoil and confusion on very many North American campuses. Students in particular, and even some professors, are somewhat perplexed on the “idea of a university,” and the particular relationships to be found on campus. I’d like to offer a very slim vade mecum or guide on a few essential understandings. Kind of a pamphlet — On Going to University. It is mainly addressed to would-be students. Here goes.
