Canada, France to Develop Shared Space Launch Infrastructure
Canada and France have asked their space agencies and defense departments to develop and share infrastructure including space-launch systems, Prime Minister Mark Carney said on a visit to a French territory near Newfoundland and Labrador.
The prime minister made the announcement Sunday alongside French President Emmanuel Macron at Saint-Pierre, the capital of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, a French archipelago that sits just off Canada’s Atlantic coast. No timelines or funding commitments were disclosed.

On a day in late January, Toronto detective Antonio D’Onofrio took his place in a Newmarket courtroom.
He was one of hundreds who’d worked on the months-long investigation now known as Project South, a case that began as a probe into an armed home invasion targeting a manager at a Toronto jail but had since ballooned into one of the largest investigations of criminal corruption in the Toronto Police Service’s history.
D’Onofrio, an officer with Toronto police’s professional standards unit, was seeking a justice of the peace’s sign-off to execute a series of raids that would see several of his fellow officers arrested.

In a message posted on its website, the International Language Academy of Canada cited increased financial challenges over the past three years “due to significant regulatory changes affecting the sector.”

Exit polls for the state elections, in Berlin and in the eastern state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern, both showed the CDU trailing far behind the hard-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD).
In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the AfD surged with 37 per cent of the vote and the CDU secured only 5.5 per cent, the exit polls showed, by far the latter party’s worst ever performance in an election. The AfD is unlikely to take power, however, without a majority.
Group sues City of Toronto, claims law broken in picking shelter spots
Concerned citizens from across Toronto are suing city hall and three of its leaders, alleging they broke the law and acted in bad faith in choosing where homeless shelters will go.
Safe Neighbourhoods Toronto, a non-profit incorporated last month, is seeking an injunction against the City of Toronto to stop it from setting up shelters that don’t “comply with the criteria approved by city council.” It also seeks $1 million from Mayor Olivia Chow, Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik and Gord Tanner, the city’s head of shelter services.
