BERNARDO: How Ottawa’s firearms agenda collides with daily life in Canada

Picture a winter morning in northern Alberta or rural Saskatchewan.

A licenced firearms owner — maybe an indigenous hunter, maybe a rancher — reaches for the same rifle or shotgun they’ve used for decades.

It might be an SKS picked up when they were still cheap and plentiful. It might be a semi-automatic shotgun that takes detachable magazines because that’s what the local shop had in stock at the time.

The EU and Canada Collaborate on Digital IDs

The latest agreement between the European Union and Canada to collaborate on mutually recognized digital IDs is simply another step in what I have been warning about for years. Whenever government confidence collapses, the political class tightens control. Digital ID is not about convenience; it is about tracking capital and controlling movement as the global sovereign-debt crisis accelerates.

The danger here is obvious. Mutual recognition means a unified framework. They’re building a foundation to establish a GLOBAL digital ID. Once these systems talk to one another, you have created the architecture for a worldwide database controlled by the political elite. This is precisely what the EU has been pushing with its Digital Services Act and the infamous “digital wallet” proposal. Now they are exporting it, just as they exported their disastrous ideas on Net Zero and financial regulation. Canada, collapsing economically and politically, is following Brussels into the abyss.

Welcome to your future dystopia.

Cry the Beloved Europe?

Nothing bothers the European elite as much as American conservatives praising the European foundations of their shared, but threatened, Western civilization.

Europeans especially resent having their social-welfare state system critiqued by upstart, crass Americans.

Their pique only increases as they push back against the condescending American idea that the U.S. could offer any constructive advice, much less help a more civilized Europe follow the “American model.”

Globe Triggered! Trump Was Mean!

Donald Trump has taken the mask off about immigrants in the U.S.

The United States was once a country that proudly proclaimed itself to be a nation of immigrants. That’s always been caveated, of course; the drive to “secure the border” has long obsessed both parties. But attacking pluralism is a full-on ideological anchor of President Donald Trump’s second administration, which has been unwavering in its promised anti-immigrant agenda.

This week, the xenophobic rhetoric reached a fever pitch when Mr. Trump launched into an anti-immigrant tirade, lamenting immigration to the United States from “hellholes like Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia and many other countries,” which he condemned as “filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime.” These comments followed a major shift in immigration policy, what the President called a “permanent pause” on immigration applications from 19 countries, including Iran, Haiti and Sudan, including asylum applications, green card processing and naturalization applications.

All those countries mentioned are backward shitholes.

Canada’s idiot Lib-left is still caught up in their Noble Savage fixation and can’t wrap their head around the simple fact President Trump is protecting his people from predatory illegal alien invaders and the incompatible cultures allowed in by President Dementia & Obama.

Oh well the Globe has to play to their audience I suppose. Smug anti-Americanism still works with the Elbow people. God help us.

Hollow Sanctuaries: When Churches Become Mosques

As churches empty, mosques take their place across the West.

On certain Sunday mornings in America, you can still hear a church bell toll across an otherwise silent neighborhood. The sound is familiar, but the congregation it once summoned has vanished. Pews sit undisturbed, hymnals gather dust, and sanctuaries once filled with life now echo only with the footsteps of estate agents measuring out a future that will no longer be Christian. In much of the West, the bell remains — but its audience has gone.

Europe faces Robocop-style dystopia by 2035, EU police claim

From rioting ‘displaced workers’ to hacked social-care machines, Europol sketches risks that come with automation

Angry mobs of unemployed citizens riot in the streets against the hordes of service robots that have stolen their jobs. Police officers armed with “robo freezer guns” and “nano net grenades” shoot down swarms of drones deployed by terrorists to attack electricity and water supplies.

This is not the plot of a new Robocop sci-fi film but what may await Europe in the next 10 years, according to a report from the EU’s police agency.

The 48-page Europol document details how law enforcement will need to tackle robots and unmanned systems (drones, satellites and remote-controlled boats) in a dystopian vision of the future.

House Leader says ‘there are others’ after second Conservative MP crosses floor

Government House Leader Steven MacKinnon says there are other Conservative MPs who are frustrated with Pierre Poilievre’s leadership, beyond the two who have already crossed the floor to the Liberals.

Mr. MacKinnon, who also serves as the Minister of Transport, made the comments Friday morning after the surprise announcement the night before that Ontario MP Michael Ma was leaving the Conservatives to join the Liberals.

‘Can I just not feed at all?’: Texts indicate couple in Ontario murder trial withheld food from boys

Despite Brandy Cooney’s claim she and her wife never punished two boys in their care by withholding food, text messages between the two women tell a different story, the Crown argued Wednesday during the couple’s Milton, Ont., murder trial.

For a third day, Cooney answered questions about how she and Becky Hamber treated the brothers they were trying to adopt leading up to the older boy’s death on Dec. 21, 2022.

The 12-year-old was found emaciated and unresponsive on the floor of his basement bedroom that night and later died in hospital. He weighed the same as when he was six years old and had stopped growing, the court has heard.

Trump expands Venezuela sanctions as Maduro decries new ‘era of piracy’

Donald Trump has exerted more pressure on Venezuela’s president Nicolás Maduro, expanding sanctions and issuing fresh threats to strike land targets in Venezuela, as the South American dictator accused the US president of ushering in a new “era of criminal naval piracy” in the Caribbean.

Late on Thursday, the US imposed curbs on three nephews of Maduro’s wife, Cilia Flores, as well as six crude oil supertankers and the shipping companies linked to them. The treasury department alleged the vessels “engaged in deceptive and unsafe shipping practices and continue to provide financial resources that fuel Maduro’s corrupt narco-terrorist regime”.
