OTTAWA — With Canada’s affordability crisis dashing dreams of home ownership for many, Canadians are now finding that owning a new car is also becoming out of reach.
Released on Tuesday, AutoTrader’s Q2 2026 automotive price index suggests that even though new car prices have eased slightly, one in seven Canadians are abandoning plans to purchase a new car off the lot, opting instead for more affordable used options.

Ontario’s legal regulator is moving to suspend the licence of lawyer Raj Grewal as the former Liberal MP faces a slew of lawsuits accusing him, the law firm he founded, family members and associates of millions of dollars in fraud and other wrongdoing.

OTTAWA — The federal Liberal lead over the Conservatives has shrunk to six points, according to new polling.
In its weekly federal tracker poll, Liaison Strategies has the Mark Carney-led Liberals at 41% support among decided and leaning voters, with Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party of Canada in second at 35%.
