I am no fan of Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, or the UCP for that matter, and I think his new regime of draconian restrictions and passport system is absolutely abysmal, but at the same time, it would be dishonest to hold Kenney solely responsible for the current situation. There are clearly forces inside and outside of the government pressuring Kenney and the UCP into blowing up the COVID-19 situation into something worse than it really is.
In a post on Twitter on Friday morning, Sanders called Singh a courageous leader who would “make the wealthy pay.”
At a campaign stop across the Rideau Canal from Parliament, Singh said he would zero in on tax evasion and close loopholes that benefit billionaires.
“We believe that the ultrarich should pay their fair share so we can invest in people,” Singh said.
“Invest in people” means “buy votes.”
Singh says students have been among the Canadians hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic and forgiving their debt would give youth a necessary leg up.
When asked on Thursday what he would do with the Trans Mountain expansion project if elected prime minister, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said he opposes the pipeline expansion and would look at the assets’ worth, making a decision based on the financial value. Singh added there are “better” ways to spend the money to “invest in jobs and help people right now.”

OTTAWA — NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is promising to tax the “super rich,” improve accessibility for mental health care, create one million “good jobs” and set up a Crown corporation for vaccine production, if his party was to form government.
Bright and early Thursday morning, the NDP released “commitments to Canadians” and a plan for a “fair” pandemic recovery that essentially amounts to the campaign platform that Singh and his candidates will be running on should a federal election be called in the near future.
Jagmeet Singh is a Sikh Canadian politician who has been steadily gaining in popularity; he is also, alas, distinctly unsympathetic to Israel.
