Seattle City Council Slashes Police Budget
The Seattle City Council on Monday approved a massive budget cut to the city’s police department, which Mayor Jenny Durkan (D.) indicated she would sign next week.
As part of the 2021 fiscal year’s budget, the council slashed the Seattle Police Department’s funding by 18 percent. As a result, Seattle police will no longer have the authority to respond to 911 emergency calls and enforce parking violations. Overtime and training programs will be cut, and dozens of empty positions will go unfilled.

An audio recording of Mr Trudeau speaking to pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov has been released by the pair.
The prime minister apparently fielded questions from the fake Ms Thunberg, on Nato, world peace and Donald Trump.
His office did not respond to a request for comment.
What a Biden Administration Means for Border Security
A Biden administration means two dramatic and dangerous reversals on Trump policies that will endanger the American public: 1. Termination of President Trump’s signature 2016 campaign issue — The Wall; and 2. Loosening of immigration restrictions.
“There will not be another foot of wall constructed on my administration, No. 1,” Biden told National Public Radio earlier this year. “I’m going to make sure that we have border protection, but it’s going to be based on making sure that we use high-tech capacity to deal with it.”
Biden is not really promising any border protection at all. It sounds good, but it is a hollow falsehood.

French minister says images of police breaking up refugee camp ‘shocking’
France’s interior minister has ordered an inquiry into the actions of police in dismantling a protest refugee camp in central Paris during which they were filmed chasing people down streets and attacking journalists and others with truncheons and teargas.
Gérald Darmanin , who earlier described the photos and videos as “shocking”, said he had received a report on the police operation and would ask the IGPN – the police’s internal disciplinary body – to look into “several unacceptable” incidents.
Darmanin said he expected the inquiry to report back within 48 hours and promised to make the conclusions public.

Ontario is reporting 1,009 new cases of COVID-19 but the province says an error in reporting yesterday’s data has resulted in an underestimation of today’s case count and overestimation of Monday’s total.
On Monday, Ontario reported 1,589 new cases of the virus , a new single-day record, but the province now says that number was not accurate.
“Due to technical issues, instead of including cases up until 12:00 p.m. on November 22, yesterday’s report contained cases reported in CCM up until 8:30 p.m. on November 22, resulting in an overestimate of the daily counts yesterday, and an underestimate of the daily counts today,” a spokesperson for Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott said in an email on Tuesday.
