OTTAWA — Air Canada and the federal government have reached an agreement on a $5.9-billion aid package that the company says will speed up customer refunds, protect industry jobs and return service to some communities that were shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a news release, Air Canada said the $5.879-billion liquidity agreement is provided through the government’s Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility (LEEFF) program and includes $4 billion in loans, a $500-million investment in Air Canada stock and a separate $1.4-billion loan to help facilitate customer refunds.

Kimberly Potter, 48, was formally identified Monday night as the officer caught on bodycam footage Sunday thinking she was firing a Taser at the 20-year-old black man — instead gasping, “Holy s–t. I just shot him!”

He takes ‘cancel culture’ as an example, arguing that “there’s nothing solid there to argue about” since the term has “no stable or universally agreed definition”. For Chivers, debating the existence of cancel culture is “all mood affiliation and tribalism”.

I’ve never been much of a monarchist. I’m so old that I remember the days when they used to play the national anthem in cinemas after the credits, and one of my earliest memories is of my mother attempting to prise me out of my seat to stand respectfully.
