Energy prices soar in Britain. Can Canadians expect to pay more too?

October will bring shock for many in Britain.

At the start of the month, U.K. residents will see an 80 per cent increase in their annual household energy bills, the country’s energy regulator announced earlier this month, following a record 54 per cent spike in April. That will bring costs for the average customer to 3,549 pounds ($5,418) a year from 1,971 pounds ($3,009).

Canadian politics has a rage problem — and politicians have to be part of the solution

On a June day nearly 40 years ago, Brian Mulroney happened upon a 63-year-old woman named Solange Denis. Mulroney’s government was proposing to make a change to Old Age Security. Denis was mad about that and — with reporters watching — she conveyed her displeasure directly to the prime minister.

Mulroney’s run-in with Denis became a national story. The government was compelled to back down and “Goodbye Charlie Brown” subsequently became shorthand for how a single interaction with a voter can waylay a politician and a government.

What happened to Chrystia Freeland in Grande Prairie, Alberta last week was something else entirely — and many political leaders, from across the partisan spectrum, seemed to recognize that immediately. Among those who condemned the incident were Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and Ontario Premier Doug Ford, two politicians who have had their differences with the federal Liberal government.

The nerve of the CBC publishing this tripe. The anger at the Trudeau Liberals is justified.

Couple accused of plotting to blow up the B.C. Legislature launches lawsuit

Amanda Korody and John Nuttall

A couple accused of plotting to blow up the B.C. Legislature with pressure cookers has filed a lawsuit against the federal government, province and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, arguing their Charter rights were violated and they were subjected to malicious prosecution and unlawful action.

A unanimous ruling by B.C.’s Appeal Court in December, 2018, upheld a judge’s decision to stay terrorism charges against John Nuttall and Amanda Korody due to entrapment by police. The pair was found guilty in June, 2015, of conspiring to commit murder and possessing an explosive in a public place on behalf of a terrorist group.

I believe both of these misfits need help of some kind. I followed this case in the news and it stank, it was the RCMP imitating FBI entrapment tactics.

Trudeau’s ‘green’ obsession is Canada’s nightmare

Justin Trudeau’s “green” fairy tale continues. And our nation’s economy and the West’s efforts to contain Vladimir Putin both suffer from our prime minister’s dalliances with unreality.

Last week, German chancellor Olaf Scholz was in Canada. What he was hoping for was a pledge from the federal government to start shipping LNG (liquified natural gas) to his country so Germany can stop buying Russian natural gas by 2024.

The high costs of climate ‘justice’ through lawfare

The anti-energy left has weaponized consumer protection laws in the U.S. to punish oil and gas companies

The anti-energy left has weaponized consumer protection laws in the United States to punish oil and gas companies simply for carrying out their core business. If their lawfare succeeds, there will be serious repercussions for the energy security of North America and the West.

Release the Entire FBI Mar-a-Lago Affidavit

Fascist Paramilitaries lay siege to Mar-a-Lago

We need to see the whole document in order to know the truth.

On Friday, the FBI released a severely redacted version of the 38-page affidavit submitted to Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart in support of the application to search former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida. The redactions conceal much of the text, including the parts that purportedly would explain why the FBI believed that a crime was being committed.

San Francisco’s homelessness laid bare

A flood of new images from the streets of San Francisco have brought into stark focus the extent of the city’s ongoing homelessness problem, which has driven some businesses to threaten to withhold tax payments.

Rows of tents were pictured lined up outside businesses with people’s belongings strewn across the sidewalk.

Homeless individuals, some of whom were struggling with clear physical ailments as well as drug and alcohol addiction, sat in the street right outside entrances to residential properties and small businesses struggling to bounce back after highly restrictive COVID laws forced them to close, destroying revenues.

Dissonance as a way of life

… Malcom X was a known anti-Semite: “The exploiters of blacks are the Jews,” and “the Jew is behind the integration movement.”

Stokely Carmichael, an influential black leader: “The only good Zionist is a dead Zionist,” and “We must take a lesson from Hitler.”

These examples pale in comparison to the record of Louis Farrakhan, who the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has called “the leading anti-Semite in America.” His assaults on Jews as “termites,” his description of Judaism as a “gutter religion,” his declaration that Hitler was a “great man” (later modified to “wickedly great”) have been widely reported.

Historic monuments resurface as severe drought shrinks Spain’s reservoirs

A huge megalithic complex and a centuries-old church are among the underwater monuments to have resurfaced in Spain as a severe drought causes water levels to plunge.

After a prolonged dry spell, Spain’s reservoirs – which supply water for cities and farms – are at just under 36% capacity, according to environment ministry figures for August.

In Spain’s western Extremadura region, the receding waters of the Valdecañas reservoir have revealed a prehistoric stone circle on an islet that is normally underwater.
