Scrap China EV deal, auto group says in push to focus on U.S.

Diversification beyond the U.S. automobile market is “not an option” for Canada and Ottawa should scrap a trade deal with China that is seeing Chinese electric vehicles enter the Canadian market, a group representing three of the biggest U.S. automakers in Canada said on Tuesday.

The standing committee on international trade in the House of Commons heard from Brian Kingston, the president of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association, a group that represents the operations of Ford, General Motors and Stellantis in Canada.

This ought to go over well in Washington.

US-Iran strikes intensify after American patrol helicopter downed in Hormuz

The US and Iran have exchanged fire after the US threatened retaliation for the downing of an American military helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

The US Central Command (Centcom) said on Tuesday it had “completed” airstrikes launched at 17:00 ET.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had launched a drone strike on a US base in Bahrain and a missile strike on a US base in Jordan, according to state-run media, and Kuwait’s army said it was intercepting an attack.

Durham College employee accused of luring 2 young girls on Snapchat, Reddit

A 23-year-old man has been arrested following allegations that he lured two young girls through social media and solicited child sexual abuse material.

Durham Regional Police say members of the Child Exploitation Unit launched an investigation in late 2025 after receiving information that the man had allegedly communicated with a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl through social media platforms Reddit and Snapchat.

Disorder breaks out in Belfast after man charged over knife attack

People have been forced to flee their homes in Belfast amid disorder following a knife attack.

Houses and cars have been set on fire and all public transport has been paused in the city.

A 30-year-old Sudanese man is due to appear in court on Wednesday charged with attempted murder following the attack in north Belfast on Monday night.

All of Europe needs to burn.

Belfast knife attack reflects years of silence on immigration

Late on Monday evening, a man in the Kinnaird Avenue area of North Belfast was the target of a brutal attempted murder. A circulating video of the event shows the attacker sitting atop his blood-soaked victim, apparently trying to behead the man. Several individuals attempted to wrestle the assailant off the victim, one using a hurling stick.
