Gender Surgery for Minors Faces a Legal Reckoning

Gender Surgery for Minors Faces a Legal Reckoning

Last year, a federal court in Washington State ruled that Premera Blue Cross unlawfully discriminated when it refused to cover elective double mastectomies for two young girls. The decision read like a harsh warning to every employer: exclude gender-transition procedures for children from your health plan and risk an Affordable Care Act discrimination claim. But the story doesn’t end there.

In July 2026, the United States filed a brief urging the Ninth Circuit to reject that court’s misguided reasoning.

Amy Hamm: Transgender health care authorities can’t stifle debate anymore

One of the world’s loudest and most successful cheerleaders for gender ideology has been forced into a tactical retreat in an ongoing U.S. court case.

Anyone mildly familiar with the controversy over “gender affirming” care will be aware that proponents for this medical scandal have insisted that there is to be no debate on trans health care — and that debate is not only tantamount to heresy, but could end the lives or very existence of transgender identified persons. Critics are often met with the refrain, “the science is settled,” when they ask questions about the wisdom or safety of transitioning gender-confused minors.

CDC Recognizes Detransitioning As Official Condition, Opens Door To Medical Treatment For Mutilated Kids

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in October will start recognizing detransitioning — reversing gender “transition” mutilation — in official diagnosis codes for purposes of insurance billing and data collection.

Vice President J.D. Vance last week called for the jailing of medical professionals fraudulently using medical billing codes to get insurance to cover the castration and genital mutilation of children claiming to be “transgender.” But on the other side of that issue are the thousands of young people who were brutally maimed by predator doctors and have little recourse to try to reverse some of the interventions.

“As a brand that is synonymous with Canada, Tim Hortons and their partnerships should reflect Canada — a country that is inclusive and proud of its diversity,” advocacy group Egale Canada said in an online statement Tuesday.
