It has been two-hundred-fifty years since America’s Declaration of Independence recognized the Crown system as a threat to Americans’ lives and liberties. WITH 2050 in mind, a government report has announced a new target reduction of emissions by the period 2038-2042. The same report restated the earlier manifesto aim to have nearly all our electricity generation ‘clean’ (i.e. emission-free) by 2030. The three aims of the 2030 plan are ‘a secure and affordable energy supply . . . new industries and investments . . . and protection of the environment’.

Notice that ‘affordable’? ‘Families and businesses across the UK,’ they say, ‘will continue to reap the benefits of the clean energy transition.’ Are your clean energy benefits continuing? Have any of you received help of any kind from this Net Zero madness?

In the four years before President Trump returned to the White House, the United States of America experienced an unprecedented mass migration. From millions of ‘migrants’ crossing the border to six figures worth of unvetted Afghans being brought here illegally, the invasion wrecked entire cities, cost local communities untold billions and led to crime and violence.

There’s only one way to fix it. The mass migration must be met by mass remigration.

A privately funded inquiry organised by Rupert Lowe’s Restore Britain party has accused British authorities of allowing organised child sexual exploitation networks to operate across the country for decades, claiming that political sensitivities repeatedly took precedence over protecting vulnerable girls.

The 219-page Rape Gang Inquiry Report is not an official government investigation and did not possess statutory powers to compel witnesses or evidence. Instead, it draws on survivor testimony, whistleblower accounts, court records, previous inquiries, and expert evidence gathered during hearings organised by Restore Britain.

When medical assistance in dying (MAID) became law in 2016, advocates of the policy celebrated. People now had the right to ask their doctor to end their lives to avoid suffering and spare their loved ones the agony of watching them die a slow and possibly undignified death. This was argued as the most basic of human rights: the right to control one’s own destiny.

The debate was between those who believe only God can decide when we die, and those who believe people should have the right to control their own destiny. Ultimately, the law of land permitted physicians to end the life of a patient, as long rigid criteria were met.

A ‘predatory’ asylum seeker who groped a teenage girl on a train after being freed on bail for another sexual assault has been jailed for a year.

Meron Habtu came to the UK illegally from Eritrea in 2020 and ‘fooled’ the authorities into thinking he was a child so he could be placed with a host family, when he was actually 24.

A year later he sexually assaulted a drunk woman after ‘pestering’ females coming out of bars and nightclubs.

Labour is moving closer to Europe, at speed – except for one significant topic where it could really learn something from our Continental partners: the ever-thorny subject topic of how to do counter-extremism. There, the pace of convergence between Britain and the EU is glacial, at best.

The current Government’s approach towards political Islam is not just light years removed from that of the Trump Administration, which has designated select chapters of the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organisations; it is also far less robust than the postures adopted by many distinctly un-Trumpian EU member states.

Both the political classes and the permanent security systems of many Continental countries now treat political Islamists as adversaries to be called out and confronted, both ideologically and at law.

Jamie Sarkonak: Unilingual Canadians are inferior in the Supreme Court’s eyes

Canada used to be a bilingual country, in that our institutions could accommodate speakers of either official language. That age came to a resounding close on Friday, when a majority of the Supreme Court banned the appointment of unilingual speakers to a bilingual government office.

The case before the court had been brought by an Acadian activist group that challenged the appointment of a non-French-speaker, Brenda Murphy, to the position of lieutenant governor of New Brunswick. Six of the Supreme Court’s nine judges agreed with the Acadians, concluding that the lieutenant governor must speak both English and French. Appointing an anglophone, they said, constituted a violation of the Charter, in particular the equality rights of francophones.
