Let’s start with what everyone knows: The end of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, if it comes to that, would be bad for the Canadian economy. You know it, I know it, Ottawa knows it.
Art of the Deal Donnie is counting on us being so fearful that we’ll offer up all sorts of concessions in an attempt to mollify him, because without access to the U.S. market, our economy would surely collapse.
Whistling past the graveyard or setting new public expectations?
US Navy veteran Jonny Burnell spent 111 days aboard the battleship USS Vinson during the US war with Afghanistan in 2001.
His role as a Navy photographer allowed him to visit crew throughout the ship, unlike most sailors who are confined to parts of the vessel where they work. In an age before digital photography, troops were often eager to get their picture snapped whenever they saw him.
Over more than three months aboard the USS Carl Vinson, he witnessed a change among the crew as their excitement and energy faded to what he called a “sadness”.
Sad? Sad is the Brits who can’t make a seaworthy aircraft carrier. Contrast the article with “The Fighting Lady” a WWII era “Newsdrama” documentary.
The cesspit of antisemitism that has been permitted to fester at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is laid bare in a just released report by former Ontario Appeal Court Justice Mary Lou Benotto.
Jewish students spat on, pelted with sour milk, intimated, harassed, threatened, and living in fear because a university was unable to tackle the scourge of antisemitism that swept through its halls after Oct. 7, 2023.
This month, China’s Sea Legend Shipping launched the first regular container service through the Arctic, along what it calls the “Ice Silk Road.” The route, dubbed “China-Europe Arctic Express,” connects Ningbo, on China’s east coast, with England’s Felixstowe. The Chinese-run shipper plans eight voyages this summer season from this month to early October.
Sea Legend, which will use Russia’s Northern Sea Route, promises to cut in half the current 40-day sailing time.

The world is quietly abandoning the fantasy that renewables alone can guarantee energy security.
The U.S.–Israel war on Iran exposed how vulnerable the global economy remains to disruptions in fossil fuel supply chains. Any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz quickly affects global fuel prices, inflation, and energy costs worldwide.
A little good news?

Qasim Sabi possesses the same super secret weapon that has kept convicted sex offender Medhani Yohans in this country.
Yohans, 37, an Eritrean refugee, has a couple of sexual assault convictions and an endless array of breaching conditions under his belt but, but, but, he’s still here. He is considered dangerous.
A fake polling firm projecting Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Wisconsin Democrat socialist gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong with leads over their opponents admits these were fake polls as part of a “short-term social experiment.”

“Canadians have only access to eighteen per cent of all innovative medicines that are available around the world. Americans have access to over 90 per cent,” explains Dr. Bettina Hamelin, President and CEO of Innovative Medicines Canada, which represents Canadian pharmaceutical companies.
“Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, which are the richer countries in this world, have access to about 28 per cent [of innovative medicines]”, Hamelin says from her Toronto office, explaining that the big problems are time and money.
From 2015 to 2017, the socialist Muslim Senate candidate from Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, was executive director and health officer of the Detroit Health Department. In that capacity, he was in charge of Detroit’s Animal Control operation at a time when that department was engaged in some highly questionable activities. El-Sayed has boasted about how he “rebuilt the animal control system,” but he actually seems to have left a wide swath of destruction in his wake. And this is not just a story about the ethical treatment of animals.

President Donald Trump shot down any indication that the United States is negotiating with Iran after the 60-day memorandum of understanding expired this week.
“There are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the president wrote Tuesday on Truth Social. “The Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect. The Hormuz Strait is open and operating. All water mines have been removed or detonated.”
Australian beef is on Canadian supermarket shelves at much lower prices than for Canadian beef.
Some producers are concerned about their products being undercut, and some consumers are just happy to have an affordable option.
Tyler Fulton, president of the Canadian Cattle Association, said the Australian option has been around for years.
