It’s a Great Canadian Firewall in the making.
China uses ChatGPT to sow unrest in America
China has been using ChatGPT to sow unrest in the US, generating fake images and cartoons in an effort to turn Americans against AI.
OpenAI said a “cluster” of accounts based in China had been manipulating its ChatGPT bot to run “covert influence operations” targeting US voters with anti-AI messaging.
It said the fraudulent accounts, which were based in China but masked their true location, created memes and pictures that aimed to “amplify divisions or exacerbate public distrust”, with the AI-generated images shared on X.

18-year-old Sheldon Tracy-Stewart accused of firing gun at U.S. consulate in Toronto arrested
…Const. Marc Pinizzotto was fatally shot at a fourth-floor apartment building on Martha Eaton Way on Thursday, as officers carried out an investigation into multiple shootings, including one at the consulate in March.
Police said 19-year-old Nicholas Bennett, who was shot multiple times in the exchange of gunfire and remains in hospital, faces a first-degree murder charge. A court document shows he has also been charged with firearm-related offences in relation to alleged incidents in March.
Police also arrested and charged another suspect in the consulate shooting on Thursday, a court document shows. Sheldon Tracy-Stewart, 18, is accused of firing a gun at the consulate and committing a violent attack on the official premises of an internationally protected person that was likely to endanger that person’s life or liberty, the document shows.
US warned French authorities multiple times about main suspect in Lyhanna murder, exposing major justice system failure
French authorities face mounting embarrassment and public fury after it emerged that US child protection organisations repeatedly warned them about the main suspect in the brutal murder of 11-year-old Lyhanna, whose body was found on June 4 in a disused grain silo near Fleurance in south-west France.
The suspect, 41-year-old Jérôme Barella, a father of one of Lyhanna’s classmates, had been the subject of several prior complaints for sexual violence against minors.

Deal to end fighting would lead to Hormuz reopening, Iran says
A deal with the US to end fighting in Iran is close and includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s Foreign Minister has said.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi told state TV the deal also includes the lifting of a US blockade of Iran, but that talks on Iran’s nuclear programme would begin later.
US officials have confirmed some of the details of the agreement, saying economic benefits for Iran would depend on Tehran meeting its obligations.

I’ve never been called “trailer trash”, but I did live in a trailer in Northeast Georgia in my early teens. Trailers don’t have the best reputation, but I liked it better than the home I grew up in. It was well-insulated, with a shotgun floor plan, so my room was far from my mother’s and her boyfriend’s, giving me more privacy than when we’d shared a wall (Iggy Pop, who lived with his parents in a trailer in Ypsilanti, Michigan, felt differently, and tells how he used to draw pictures of fantastical, u-shaped trailers where a boy would have space to hide). There was a hill I could skate down, woods to walk through, and because we were parked over gravel rather than dirt, we didn’t have as many problems with bugs. I had lived in a typical postwar suburb where neighbors were suspicious of each other and maintained a degree of distance. The trailer park, by contrast, was cozy; people knew each other and waved hello. I remember having long talks with a man there who owned four beautifully restored Ford Mustangs from the Sixties.

I RECENTLY witnessed the insulting behaviour of a gathering of cultural warriors and #BeKind advocates who, when asked to clap as a mark of respect for Henry Nowak, chose to turn their backs and remain silent.
Why? Because the gesture was instigated by those protesting about the Crowborough asylum-seekers’ camp. Never mind that the virtue signallers were holding placards promoting love and unity. All that flew out of the window to suit their warped agenda. Never mind two-tier policing. These people operate two-tier virtuosity as well.
