NDP leadership race is a battle between building a big tent and returning to the party’s labour roots

OTTAWA — Two separate paths to party renewal — and three very different contenders — have emerged as the race to choose the next leader of the federal NDP begins to take shape.

While still in its opening weeks, the contest is already shaping up as a referendum over whether the NDP should double down on courting middle-class moderates or focus its energies on reconnecting with its traditional blue-collar base.

The NDP hates Whites but especially White males they will tolerate self-hating White women when convenient.

The head of Canada’s largest municipal police union is pushing the federal government for tough-on-crime measures, including stiffer sentences for young offenders, after a series of violent crimes allegedly involving youth suspects.

KLEIN: Carney’s golden chance to rescue Prairie farmers

Prime Minister Mark Carney has been handed a golden parachute by the Chinese government. Their ambassador has said quite plainly: if Canada removes its 100% tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, China will reciprocate by dropping its crippling levies on Canadian agriculture, most notably canola and pork. It’s not a gift. It’s leverage. But it’s an opportunity.

Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with the US president in Washington, DC on Friday, following two phone conversations this weekend in which they discussed the long-range missiles.

Provision of Tomahawks, which would theoretically allow Ukraine to strike Moscow and much of western Russia, would mark a major step-up in American support and a hardening of Mr Trump’s stance against Putin.

HANNAFORD: Your body is not state property

Here we go again. According to a poll by Research Co., nearly three-quarters of Canadians — 72%  — believe childhood vaccinations should be mandatory in their province. That’s up five points from last year. To many, this seems a mark of progress: more public trust in science, more protection for the vulnerable. But before congratulating ourselves on our civic virtue, we ought to ask a harder question: what kind of society are we becoming when we endorse the state’s right to inject anybody – even children whose parents object — against their will?

The Latest FBI Spying Makes Watergate Look Trivial

In 1972, a small team of operatives connected to President Richard Nixon’s re-election campaign broke into the Democratic National Committee’s offices in the Watergate complex to install listening devices. To this day, there is no conclusive evidence that Nixon personally ordered — or even knew of — the break-in beforehand. Yet Watergate shaped American political consciousness for decades. It gave the world a permanent suffix for scandal and became the ultimate symbol of abuse of power, a crisis so severe that it culminated in the only resignation of a U.S. president to preempt removal from office.
