As threats of ‘new Cold War’ between U.S. and China intensify, Canada needs firm strategy to adapt

Any strong words Trudeau may mouth about China are to be taken with a very large grain of salt.

Back in April, prominent U.S. senator Chuck Schumer tabled a sweeping 1,445-page bill that would lay the groundwork for America’s broad strategy to blunt China’s global rise.

The legislation, called the Innovation and Competition Act, identifies strategic industries like quantum computing, advanced semiconductors and pharmaceuticals, where it recommends the U.S. should ramp up public support. It proposes deeper protections for critical minerals, expands research spending, and aims to strengthen cyber defence capabilities, among other things.

Tucked away in three brief sections of the legislation, U.S. officials detail a role for Canada in their China policy. Despite receiving little attention in Canada, the plans are deeply consequential, providing a rough sketch of the shape of Canadian foreign policy for the coming decades.

It’s the Liberalism, Stupid

In this telling, the history of the past 30 or so years in America goes something like this: Once upon a time, back in the halcyon days of the 1990s, America was great, because Americans all observed a shared creed called liberalism. This relaxed civil religion nurtured our individual liberties and kept us honest, hardworking, and good. It gave us civil rights and gay marriage, Tom Hanks and Sesame Street, bipartisanship and Teach for America. And it would have bloomed eternal if the barbarians hadn’t shown up one day to sack our glittering Rome.

Conrad Black: With America in decline, this is Canada’s time to shine

This is the time Canada has awaited for 350 years: the United States has momentarily subsided into a state of juvenilism and self-flagellation. Instead of wallowing in our own tears every time unmarked graves are discovered and prancing around gas-lighting and virtue-signalling over nebulous questions of climate change, and claiming to be a post-national state, we should take advantage of the first time in our history when we are not preoccupied with the Americans. We should resume the upward rise of Canada in the world, not out of any spite for the U.S., but to fulfill our long-perceived destiny and serve the common interests of the West.

SolarWinds: Top US prosecutors hit by suspected Russian hack

Nearly 30 top US prosecutors had their office’s email accounts hacked during a major breach last year, the Justice Department says.

The attack on users of the software SolarWinds – which the US has blamed on Russia – was the worst-ever cyber-espionage attack on the US government.

The department says 27 US attorneys had at least one office computer hacked.

That has raised fears the hackers may have accessed sensitive information, including the names of informants.

Poll: Nearly Half Of Republicans Think ‘Patriotic Americans’ Will One Day ‘Have To Take The Law Into Their Own Hands’

More than half of Republicans support the potential use of force to preserve traditional American values and nearly half believe a time will come when “patriotic Americans” will have to take the law into their own hands, according to the results of a George Washington University poll released this week.

The Authoritarians

Jonathan W. Emord is one of the United States’ leading constitutional and administrative law attorneys. He has defeated the FDA eight times in federal court, more times than any other attorney in America. He is a guest lecturer at Georgetown University Law and Medical Schools, and the author of several books. He is the guest host with Robert Scott Bell of the “Sacred Fire of Liberty Hour” on The Robert Scott Bell Show. His latest Book, The Authoritarians: Their Assault on Individual Liberty, the Constitution, and Free Enterprise from the 19th Century to the Present, is a deep dive into the wells of history, law, economics, and government. It is a magisterial and monumental book that traces the historical roots of America’s accelerating race towards authoritarianism. Every American who cares about freedom and about how to reverse these trends, that will irrevocably undermine our freedom, should read this book. I interviewed Mr. Emord recently.

$100 incentive to unvaccinated Americans who get shot. How much to those already vaccinated?

The Treasury Department said Thursday that the money to pay for the vaccine incentive payments could come from the $350 billion of relief funds that is being given to states and cities as part of the economic rescue package that Congress approved in March. The incentive is intended to “boost vaccination rates, protect communities, and save lives.”

Presidential progeny like Hunter Biden will always succeed

Keeping it in the family is a political tradition nearly as old as America itself. John Adams, our second President, spawned an entire line of public servants including a son, John Quincy Adams, who was elected POTUS in 1824. The first Kennedy entered office in 1895, and the family has been supplying the country with legislators, ambassadors and other federal elected officials pretty much continuously ever since. The Bushes have been in politics for four generations, and the Cheneys seem primed to follow in their footsteps (that is, if Liz can survive her attempted ousting by the Republican party’s Trump Loyalist faction).

China Ambushes Top American Diplomat

Once again, China’s regime went out of its way to insult Biden administration diplomats.

The mauling this time took place in the Chinese city of Tianjin, on July 26. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, the most senior Biden administration official to visit China, was the victim.

Beijing used the meeting with Ms. Sherman, as it used the now-infamous March meeting in Anchorage, not to work with the U.S. but to launch a propaganda campaign against Washington.

DHS Dumping COVID-Positive Illegal Aliens Into Texas Cities

As the Biden regime and Center For Diseases Control call for continued masking, forced vaccination, and more for American children and citizens alike, the same government has allowed hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to waltz on in with no questions asked. With a plethora of draconian travel restrictions for American citizens to follow, including the risk of being locked out of your own country for a positive COVID-19 reading on an unreliable PCR test, COVID positive illegal aliens have been freely pouring right in.

Iran Attempted To Abduct at Least 3 American Journalists in 2019 and 2020

At least three U.S. journalists working for Voice of America were the subjects of attempted Iranian abduction and surveillance efforts in 2019 and 2020, a former senior State Department official familiar with the security threats told the Washington Free Beacon.

In one botched plot in late 2019, Iranian operatives allegedly tried to use a female “honey trap” to lure a male VOA journalist to a hotel room in Irbil, Iraq, according to the former State Department official—a plan that failed when the reporter, who has since left VOA, declined to show up to the hotel. The plot closely mirrors the case of Ruhollah Zam, an Iranian dissident ex-pat who was lured from France to Iraq by a female Iranian operative and then taken to Iran where he was executed by the government last year.

The Duplicitous Ruling Elites Have Awakened the American People

Over the past three decades, a sizable majority of the ruling elites have been preoccupied with self-aggrandizement and cohabitation with the Communist Chinese, ignoring the gradual and now complete domination of many of the nation’s institutions, and most importantly the Democrat party, by American Marxists.
