National security or xenophobia? Texas restricts Chinese owning and renting property

Texas has long felt like home for him, as a naturalised US citizen born in China. But a recently passed state law is shaking his belief in his chosen homeland.

Texas Senate Bill 17 of 2025, also known as SB 17, will take effect on 1 September, restricting people and companies from China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from purchasing and renting property.

It’s a legitimate National Security issue despite the Chicom friendly BBC’s effort to muddy the waters.

Crown Royal bottler closing down Ontario plant, moving operations to U.S.

Spirits maker Diageo will cease operations at its bottling facility in Amherstburg, Ont., early next year, as it shifts some bottling volume to the U.S., the company announced on Thursday.

The facility, which bottles Crown Royal products, will close in February in a move aimed at improving its North American supply chain.

The Americans are selling Canadian natural gas to Europe at a profit

Amid growing criticisms that Canada dropped the ball on exporting its natural gas to Europe, the Polish ambassador to Canada said in a recent interview that plenty of Canadian gas is indeed finding its way to Europe — but via the United States at a markup.

“Remember; some of the LNG that’s coming from the United States to Europe, to Poland, is also Canadian … but it’s being sold for a much higher price,” Witold Dzielski told CBC after being asked whether there was Polish demand for Canadian LNG.

A Canadian man has pleaded guilty to illegally photographing classified U.S. defence facilities at the Space Force military base in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

Xiao Guang Pan, 71, of Brampton, Ont., pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful photographing of military installations without authorization on three separate days in early January.

The most vital fact that US President Donald J. Trump needs to take on board is that Russian President Vladimir Putin has no earthly chance of winning his war in Ukraine — unless, that is, Trump gifts the Russian despot a victory.

China will be among a collection of hostile states, which also includes Iran and North Korea, that will be taking a close interest in the outcome of the diplomatic initiative Trump began with Putin following their face-to-face meeting in Alaska earlier this month, to end the Ukraine conflict.

LILLEY: Time for Carney to dump our ambassador in Washington

As Mark Carney visited Germany and Latvia on Tuesday, his point man on Canada-U.S. relations was in Washington trying to mend fences.

It’s a tall task even after last week’s decision to put the elbows down and rescind Canada’s counter-tariffs on American goods outside of the steel, aluminum and auto sectors. Carney still needs to change up his team.

Specifically, as I’ve said before, Ambassador Kirsten Hillman has to be replaced because source after source continues to describe her as an impediment.

Ford to maintain U.S. booze ban in Ontario until tariffs removed or new trade deal reached

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he will maintain his ban on American booze despite Canada dropping some retaliatory tariffs in the ongoing trade war with the United States.

Ford says he will drop the ban on selling U.S. alcohol at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario when U.S. President Donald Trump removes tariffs placed on Canadian goods or when the two countries strike a new free trade deal.

Premier Doug Ford says a new USMCA deal or the full removal of U.S. tariffs would convince him to bring back American alcohol to the LCBO.

Denmark summons top US diplomat over alleged Greenland influence operation

Denmark’s foreign minister has summoned the top US diplomat in Copenhagen, following a report that American citizens have been conducting covert operations in Greenland.

Denmark’s public broadcaster DR quoted sources as saying the aim was to infiltrate Greenland’s society and promote its secession from Denmark to the US, although it was unable to clarify who the men were working for.

Danish intelligence warned Greenland was being targeted by “various kinds of influence campaigns”.

For Media Hypocrites, Burning The US Flag Is Speech But Touching The Rainbow One Is ‘Hate’

On Monday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order instructing federal agencies to use existing laws to prosecute American flag desecration.

The order instructs agencies to “prioritize the enforcement to the fullest extent possible of our Nation’s criminal and civil laws against acts of American Flag desecration that violate applicable, content-neutral laws, while causing harm unrelated to expression, consistent with the First Amendment.”

To be clear, the order does not make flag burning itself illegal. It makes no new laws.

Ontario has no plans to sell U.S. booze amid call from group to return American liquor to Canadian store shelves

The Ontario government has no plans to put U.S. booze back on LCBO shelves amid calls from a group representing U.S. distillers to return American spirits back to Canadian liquor stores.

In a statement released on Monday, Distilled Spirits Council President and CEO Chris Swonger called Canada’s decision to remove a 25 per cent tariff on American spirits a “very positive sign,” but noted it will not have much of an impact as long as provinces refuse to sell U.S. liquor.

“The unfortunate decision to remove American spirits from Canadian retail shelves is not only harming U.S. distillers, but it’s also needlessly reducing revenues for the provinces, and placing unnecessary burdens on Canadian consumers and hospitality businesses,” the statement read.
