Canada is putting too many Black Canadians behind bars. Here is what we can do about it

With Black Americans making up only 12.2 per cent of the population, but 32 per cent of the prison population (2021-2022 figures), the high incarceration rates and racial disparities in the U.S. criminal justice system have drawn significant global attention, especially after the police murder of George Floyd.

Less known is the racial disparity in Canada, where Black Canadians account for only 3.5 per cent of the general population but represent 9.2 per cent of the prison population. This means Black Americans are incarcerated approximately 2.62 times their population representation and Black Canadians nearly identical at 2.63 times.

Blacks are incapable of making sound life choices according to this article so must be treated leniently when they commit a criminal act.

Pouring more resources into jobs, housing, health and education, eliminating mandatory minimum sentences and creating a national coordinating agency for Black people are among the major overhauls called for in a landmark report on Canada’s “Black Justice Strategy.”

If implemented, the report concludes, these measures and more could shrink the over-representation of Black and Indigenous people in jail — and create a “justice system that is truly just” for all.

This is just another identity politics scam in advance of the election.

It will be a quick release bonanza for career criminals who have been taught to have zero respect for the white man and his laws.

The group behind the proposal to construct a Somali Centre for Culture and Recreation (SCCR) in Etobicoke’s Buttonwood Park says it would be the culmination of a decades-long effort to carve out space for a Black community that has endured discrimination and lacks access to public amenities.

Nothing says identity politics ghetto like a tax payer funded Mohammedan centre.

Since her election in October 2022, the rookie councillor has opposed Pride events and denounced Black History Month. But when councillors try to speak out against her, and rein in what they feel is a growing distraction, Robinson’s defenders get louder.

The mayor received an email from a resident, who suggested he could face a public hanging. Two councillors say they were followed home after meetings by people they believe are Robinson supporters.

Mr. Sajjan also relayed location information and other details about the Sikhs to the military as special operation forces worked to meet up with the group. The information was passed to him from a Canadian Sikh group that was in contact with these Afghan Sikhs.

A new law aims to crack down on environmental racism in Canada

For years, researchers, activists, community leaders have shown how Indigenous, Black and other racialized groups have been disproportionately affected by polluting industries.

Now, a new law will require the federal government to better track this injustice, and aim to correct it.

Bill C-226, sponsored by Green leader Elizabeth May, became law Thursday evening, nearly four years after similar legislation was first proposed in Parliament. The law will require the federal government to develop a national strategy on environmental racism within two years.

White people are never affected by pollution.

The Man Whose Musings Fuel Elon Musk’s Nightmares

Elon Musk’s bedtime routine is giving him nightmares.

To hear him in public is to catalog a running list of his greatest fears: end-of-the-world type stuff, killer AI threats and, in recent years, the scourge of what he calls the Woke Mind Virus.

“I listen to podcasts about the fall of civilizations to go to sleep,” Musk said this past week during an appearance at the Milken Institute conference. “So perhaps that might be part of the problem.”

One provocateur, in particular, has caught his attention of late: Gad Saad, a marketing professor at Concordia University in Montreal, and author of the book “The Parasitic Mind: How Infectious Ideas Are Killing Common Sense.”

Saad wants a better immigration policy for his Canada, one that requires a hard look at whether Islamist migrants should be included at all. That’s not a bad thing.

I doubt we would be welcomed in his circles however.

He is on the public record seeking a meeting with Poilievre to discuss immigration policy. If it happens I bet it will be behind closed doors and will not change Poilievre’s approach to mass immigration which when compared to Trudeau’s amounts to “Same, Same, Different.” Poilievre needs to run the same identity politics playbook as Trudeau to get elected. Under normal circumstances I believe Poilievre would lose the upcoming election to Junior. However Trudeau has shot himself in the head with the housing and affordability crisis so all Poilievre has to do is keep his finger off the trigger and speak of immigration in only the most harmless of generalities if at all.

Musk as we know is an opportunist currently riding the populist wave. He is a rent seeker extraordinaire albeit an entertaining one. Do not trust him, what you see is this year’s model.
