In full priestly mode, London mayor Sadiq Khan said our ‘burning summer is proof’ that climate-change deniers ‘aren’t just delusional, they’re deadly’. This suffocating heat is a ‘dramatic warning’ sent by ‘nature’ to disprove the deniers’ ‘bullshit based on lies’, said Teresa Ribera of the European Commission. Hellish flames reprimanding humanity for its sinful thoughts? Where have I heard that one before?

As Europe and much of North America endured record heat in recent days, headlines quickly appeared claiming that the heat wave was “virtually impossible” without human-caused climate change.

To many readers, that sounds like a conclusion drawn directly from observations. It is not. It is the product of a branch of climate research known as extreme weather attribution, which relies heavily on computer models rather than direct measurements.

Stunned shoppers watched on as blue-and-pink-haired protesters holding megaphones and signs marched into the luxury store inside Selfridges.

The group were protesting Dior’s use of fur and held placards that read ‘Fur is murder’ and ‘Fur kills’ as they charged through the Oxford Street store on Sunday.

OTTAWA — Former environment minister Steven Guilbeault announced Wednesday that he is resigning from the Liberal caucus and leaving federal politics, deepening internal Liberal tensions over Prime Minister Mark Carney’s energy and infrastructure agenda.

Guilbeault announced his departure at the caucus meeting, and is set to speak further at the House of Commons later Wednesday evening.

OTTAWA – Former environment and climate change minister Steven Guilbeault will resign as an MP, CTV News has learned.

Guilbeault confirmed to CTV News he will tell Liberal caucus about his decision on Wednesday and will provide no further public comment until then.
