The CEO of the popular breakfast chain Waffle House is calling out lockdown-loving, elitist politicians who have nearly bankrupted the restaurant industry during the COVID-19 pandemic with one-size-fits-all restrictions on indoor dining. “None of the people who make the decisions to shut down businesses and impact people’s livelihoods ever have their own livelihood impacted,” Walt Ehmer declared.

Ontario is reporting a record number of new cases of COVID-19 just as Toronto and Peel enter a lockdown to control the rapid spread of the virus.

The Ministry of Health says that there were 1,589 new instances of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus confirmed on Sunday, as we all as another 19 deaths.

…Leon’s didn’t discover a gold mine under its North York head office, but it did identify another treasure, courtesy of the federal government: The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) — which generated a $29.8 million windfall for the furniture company.

The CEWS program provides eligible companies with a 75 per cent subsidy for salaries for both active employees and those laid off and rehired. While firms were encouraged by the government to immediately rehire employees let go when the pandemic hit, this was not a binding condition for receiving funds.

We are constantly told by our political leaders and the compliant media that a pandemic lockdown is absolutely necessary if we are ever to defeat the COVID virus. Mask mandates, quarantine camps, self-isolating, limited sociability, the stoking of public fear and panic, the shuttering of businesses and the attendant cratering of the economy have become, once again, the false solution to a politically ginned-up crisis — déjà vu all over again.
