… Canada is contributing $49.5 million, which will go toward providing “nutritional assistance for communities affected by the war, as well as primary health care and sexual and reproductive health and rights services,” according to a statement from Global Affairs Canada.
“Canada’s aid will also provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene kits to families.”
One of Toronto’s local TV stations recently ran a segment on an elderly woman who was accidentally given the wrong address for her COVID jab. Her daughter drove her to the designated spot, which was deserted. Turned out the vaccinations were being done elsewhere.

An expert who worked on the Auditor-General’s report that criticized Canada’s lack of preparation for COVID-19 says the government’s risk assessments were “an utter failure” and cannot be defended.
Wesley Wark, an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa who analyzed the risk assessments during the onset of the outbreak, said Chief Public Health Officer Theresa Tam’s remarks last week that sought to justify those assessments are “defending the indefensible.”
Tam is China’s puppet.
OTTAWA — The conditions for a brawl appear to be set after Government House Leader Pablo Rodriguez announced that he will testify at a parliamentary committee about the now-dead WE deal on Monday, rather than Prime Minister Justin Trudeau or members of his staff.
In a letter to the chair of the House of Commons ethics committee on Sunday, Rodriguez said that one of Trudeau’s senior advisers had been instructed not to appear before the committee — and that he will be attending in his place.
More Liberal crap…
Government House Leader Pablo Rodriguez to testify on WE deal instead of Trudeau, PM staff

Big news story at the end of this week: Canada’s vaccination effort finally reaches 10% of the adult population!
Take a look at a couple of sentences about climate change that appeared Thursday concerning the Supreme Court of Canada’s ruling on the carbon tax.
Here’s one: “It is a threat of the highest order to the country, and indeed to the world.” And here’s another: “The undisputed existence of a threat to the future of humanity cannot be ignored.”
Tsk… “Judicial Activism” is just a right wing conspiracy theory!

OTTAWA — The federal environment minister says this week’s Supreme Court ruling deeming a national price on pollution constitutional will not lead to federal overreach in areas of provincial jurisdiction.
In an interview on CTV’s Question Period airing Sunday, Jonathan Wilkinson dismissed concerns among some provincial leaders and dissenting opinions from the court, who argue that such a move hands over too much power to the federal government to encroach on provincial taxation laws, in this situation specifically, and may lead to further impositions.
How U.S. media lost the trust of the public
A global pandemic, historic anti-racism protests and a turbulent U.S. presidential election had Americans glued to their screens in 2020 like never before. Cable news ratings soared, online news subscriptions increased and the amount of time we all spent online broke records.
But as people consumed more news, they also began to trust the media less, surveys showed. According to a recent Gallup survey, the percentage of Americans with no trust in the mass media hit a record high in 2020: only nine per cent of respondents said they trust the mass media “a great deal” and a full 60 per cent said they have little to “no trust at all” in it.
The American media landscape has become increasingly polarized over the last few decades.

I shall begin this aria as perhaps I should begin them all, with a citation from Lorrie Goldstein, the very lighthouse beacon of all Canadian commentary. Remarking on the highly consequential Supreme Court ruling on Trudeau’s carbon tax, he wrote in response to some fellow on Twitter the following:
“The Supreme Court said the carbon tax law is legal. It said nothing about whether it will work, or whether it’s sound public policy, because that wasn’t its job.”
The federal government is going to change the current law that bars migrants with disabilities and illnesses from immigrating to Canada.
The federal government plans to permanently change the so-called “medical inadmissibility rule” against prospective permanent and temporary migrants who have a health condition that “might reasonably be expected to cause excessive demand” on Canadian health or social services.
The excessive demand cost is linked to average Canadian per capita health and social services. The cost threshold against migrants is updated yearly. In 2020, it was set at $21,204.
The Supreme Court of Canada’s 6-3 ruling Thursday tells us Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act is constitutional, not that it’s a good law.
That wasn’t the job of the court.

OTTAWA — Canada’s auditor general said while the she applauds the government’s efforts to get money out the door quickly to Canadians who had been impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic, less rigorous eligibility screening did lead to cases of abuse.
In a report released Thursday, Karen Hogan said that approximately $500 million of Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) payments were made to recipients who had applied for support under both the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Employment and Social Development Canada.
After Canada arrested Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou on a U.S. extradition request on Dec. 1, 2018, Beijing warned Canada of “serious consequences” if she wasn’t freed. It carried through with its threat a few days later, when it detained Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. After that, the regime blocked Canadian agricultural imports to China.
Ottawa has adopted stronger language of late over the arrest of the two Canadians, in contrast to its earlier, noticeably softer tone, which typically praised China for the economic benefit it presents before calling out the regime’s hostilities.
Canada’s China class is well looked after by PM Blackie McBlackface

The Supreme Court of Canada on Thursday has given the federal government the constitutional green light to impose a carbon tax on the provinces.
The decision was the culmination of years of disputes between some provinces and the federal government over the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act (GGPPA). The law, which was introduced in 2018, laid out a national framework for pricing carbon – one that applies to everyday consumers as well as industrial emitters.
Taxes used to be the cost of maintaining the social contract, now it’s just theft by the ruling class.
