Review of “Lie Detector” tests stokes privacy fears at cyber spy agency

The watchdog body overseeing Canada’s intelligence agencies is looking into whether polygraph tests — popularly known as lie detector tests — should be used to hire spies.

Its investigation has some of Canada’s cyber intelligence officials and agents worried that their most personal information could be viewed by strangers.

The National Security and Intelligence Review Agency [NSIRA] is in the midst of reviewing internal security programs at the Communication Security Establishment [CSE], the foreign signals intelligence agency. Among other things, NSIRA is looking into whether the use of polygraph tests in CSE recruitment “is lawful, reasonable and necessary.”

Stats Can figures shows shoppers paying 20% more for food staples

 

The statistics about food prices in Canada are startling.

Statistics Canada’s monthly average retail prices for selected products shows shoppers are paying 20% more for spaghetti, flour, cabbage and other staples according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

In its report released Wednesday, Stats Can says even the cheapest meats went up in price by a third or more year over year while a loaf of white bread averaged $4.

‘Betrayal’: Canadian Soldiers Ousted Over Vaccine Mandate Speak Out

Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members who left the institution or were forced out for refusing the COVID-19 vaccines say they feel betrayed by the organization they vowed to serve.

The Epoch Times interviewed several former soldiers willing to speak on the record about their experiences.

The CAF directive for mandatory vaccination was issued in October last year, and members had to attest to their status by mid-November.

On June 30, Conservative leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre made a choice.

Wearing a crisp blue shirt and a politician’s smile, he walked up to a group of anti-vaccine mandate protesters and led the pack as it walked down Ottawa’s streets.

Beside him marched a man named James Topp, an anti-vaccine figure now set to face a court martial, who had been walking across the country to draw attention to his opposition to vaccine mandates. Topp, however, had recently joined a podcast run by far-right figurehead Jeremy Mackenzie for over an hour, saying that the podcast and others like it “kept (him) hanging on.” Mackenzie said in January that the “Freedom Convoy,” which gathered in Ottawa in February, could “bring down the government.”

The “Experts” are the usual suspects that populate the perpetual anti-conservative media feedback loop. Frankly this expert is concerned that the  world is just too  awful for them. Medication is likely required.

Lich crown prosecutor donated $17K to Liberals, attended Trudeau fundraiser

On Tuesday, Karimjee appeared before an Ottawa court to argue that Lich had breached her bail conditions and deserves to be seen behind bars again after being photographed with fellow organizer Tom Marazzo at a Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom’s award gala.

As a result of the hearing, the overseeing Justice of the Peace ordered that Lich will remain in jail until Friday afternoon while he makes a decision on her bail hearing.

In a prior heated bail hearing that saw Lich released, Karimjee demanded that the overseeing judge stepped down from the trial.

As federal Canadian politicians pat themselves on the back regarding climate change leadership, tanker-loads of foreign oil are delivered regularly to Eastern Canadian refineries, including increasing volumes from Saudi Arabia.

Canada’s eroding democracy under Trudeau’s watch

Canadian democracy is in decline.

To even suggest that a few short years ago would have been shocking, but the signs of weakening institutions and fraying checks and balances are now unmistakable.

Critics of the “democratic decline” thesis are quick to point out that Canada is not Russia, Yemen, or China. This is obviously true but these critics are also missing a key point – democracy is not an all-or-nothing proposition.

The state of democracy is measured by the relative performance of a political system on a range of variables over time. There is a lot of space between “perfect democracy” and “complete autocracy.”
