UK: Record Number of Migrants Crossing English Channel

Nearly a thousand migrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East have attempted to cross the English Channel on small boats in just one day to illegally get into the United Kingdom. The record-breaking surge in illegal crossings is being facilitated by warm weather and calm seas.

The British government is struggling to stop the crossings — partly because of its need for cooperation from France. British authorities have repeatedly accused their French counterparts of not doing enough to stop small boats from leaving French territorial waters.

Although the UK has pledged to pay France tens of millions of pounds to stop migrants crossing the Channel, French naval vessels are accused of escorting small boats into British waters.

Some 9,000 illegal immigrants, including Haitian, Cuban, and Venezuelan nationals, were in the area, Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez confirmed.

Migrant Tales

While the American media climb over each other to spew out the expected tropes on racism and the misanthropic obstinacy of white people, European countries declare their intent to bolster ramparts against new arrivals.

Have we learned anything since 2015?

I was in North Macedonia (then just Macedonia) in the spring of 2016 at the height of the migrant crisis. The otherwise politically inconspicuous Balkan country had been placed at the center of international affairs thanks to its geographic position on the route between the Middle East and Western Europe. Images of the supposed refugees clashing with Macedonian police forces helped to brighten the spotlight.

The Horror! Denmark tells some migrants to work for benefits

Muslims march for Sharia in Denmark

Some migrants in Denmark will now be required to work 37 hours a week in order to receive welfare benefits.

It will be a requirement for those who have been on benefits for three to four years, and who have not reached a certain level of proficiency in Danish.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the rules were directly aimed at women from “non-Western backgrounds” living on benefits.

Denmark has repeatedly tightened its immigration policies in recent years.

It now has some of the toughest rules in Europe, and has set a target of zero asylum applications.

‘Immigration Created Barbarism’: Swedish Politician Blasts Gang Wars, Organised Crime

What was promised as an investment, profit and a flourishing multiculturalism has instead led to more unemployment, segregation and a thriving gang culture, a high profile Sweden Democrat has claimed.

In a searing opinion piece titled “Immigration Created Barbarism”, Adam Marttinen of the parliamentary Justice Committee accused mass immigration of contributing to gangland violence and organised crime that swept the country.

With an open swipe against former Swedish Prime Minister and Moderate Party leader Fredrik Reinfeldt, who once notoriously claimed that “Only barbarism is genuinely Swedish, all further development has come from abroad”, Marttinen claimed that Reinfeldt-led governments laid the foundation for the barbarism of gang wars that dominate the news cycle.

Belarus Floods EU with Migrants from Middle East

Thousands of migrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East are pouring into the European Union from Belarus, a landlocked country in Eastern Europe. The surge in illegal immigration is being orchestrated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who is accused of trying to blackmail the EU into reversing the sanctions it imposed over his disputed reelection and a crackdown on dissent.

Many of the migrants are being flown to Belarus from the Middle East and then bussed to EU borders by Belarusian authorities. The trips are being organized by Belarus’s state-owned tourism agency, which charges migrants between $1,800 to $12,000.

Poland declares state of emergency on Belarus border over “migrant” surge

‘We Will Never Go Back to 2015’: Sweden Doesn’t Believe in New Refugee Wave Despite Afghan Crisis

In 2015, Sweden, a nation of over 10 million, saw a record 163,000 asylum seekers, mostly from the Middle East and Northern Africa, which has since posed serious integration issues and economic problems.

While Afghanistan is witnessing an acute humanitarian crisis in the wake of the return to power of the Taliban*, which has prompted hundreds of thousands of people to attempt to flee, Sweden doesn’t believe in a new refugee wave to Europe.

Mikael Ribbenvik, Director General of the Swedish Migration Agency, argued in an interview with national broadcaster SVT that the situation in Afghanistan looks bleak and condemned the Taliban’s attempt at a “charm offensive” in which they promised amnesty and pledged to respect women’s rights.

Landed in large numbers, they sow discord in a campsite in the Cévennes

Morgan Negre, manager of the Guinguette in Avèze (Gard), is relieved. After a week of major unrest in the adjoining Du Pont Vieux campsite, calm has returned. But the establishment still remains closed for repair after the forced intrusion of a group of one hundred and twenty to one hundred and fifty people who forced the access barriers to settle in this small village plot of about sixty ‘locations showing already full.

The arrival of around sixty cars registered in Belgium and Syrian families turned into a general brawl on the first night. On August 4, meeting in a crisis cell, the town council of the village decided to close the campsite, which is also a camper van Park, in the height of the tourist season. Traditional campers, often regulars, were asked to continue their holidays in more peaceful meadows.

The “Belgian Augustans” occupied the field for an additional day, threatening to camp there and demanding to be “relocated” before finally evacuating. Now it is time to clean and repair before the summer returns to lightness.

Smuggling migrants into the U.S. earns cartels and others involved in the practice as much as $6 billion a year, a senior Homeland Security official told Congress.

That staggering figure is much higher than other public estimates, though experts said they wouldn’t be surprised if the actual amount were higher still.
