AUBUT: The cooked goose — federal policy is driving Canada’s looming economic collapse

Back in April, I wrote Killing the Golden Goose. I argued that Canada appeared to be making itself progressively less competitive while people with large pools of mobile capital were well positioned to profit from the resulting decline. I used “shorting” as an analogy: weaken something of value, then benefit from the lower value that follows.

Four months later, some new information has appeared.

Critical Book on ‘Transhumanism’ Threatened With German Ban

Critical Book on ‘Transhumanism’ Threatened With German Ban

A prominent Austrian Covid critic’s 2022 book on ‘transhumanism’ is being threatened with a ban in Germany. German authorities maintain an ‘index’ or list of banned books, which can be owned but not sold in the country. Although the ban is in fact general, the indexing is officially supposed to serve the purpose of child protection, and indexing decisions are taken by the so-called “Federal Agency for Child and Youth Protection in the Media”.

For the media and AI, there’s no extremism on the American left

For the media and AI, there’s no extremism on the American left

The European and American media are very worried that “far-right politicians” have been elected in Germany. We also repeatedly hear the media describe Trump and other Republicans as far-right.

However, we rarely see the media describe Democrats as “far-left.” Even more rarely do the media explain exactly what policies make a politician far-right or far-left. So, I thought I would discuss this issue with Gemini, which reflects what the media report.

Liberals Open 14-Point Lead, Largest Since 2017, as Trump Continues to Dominate the Agenda

Liberals Open 14-Point Lead, Largest Since 2017, as Trump Continues to Dominate the Agenda

Our latest national tracking survey was conducted from September 4 to 9, in a political environment that continues to be shaped overwhelmingly by Canada’s confrontation with the United States.

Since our last survey, the Liberals swept three federal byelections on August 31, holding Beaches–East York and North Vancouver–Capilano and winning Chicoutimi–Le Fjord from the Bloc Québécois.

Watching Harry Potter is ‘Trans Genocide’ Explains Crazy Guy From the Matrix

Remember The Matrix and Keanu Reeves running around in ‘Bullet Time’. Whatever happened to that? Well as you could have probably guess from the subsequent two movies, this stuff wasn’t exactly being made by the most disciplined minds out there. Somewhere along the way, the Wachowski brothers became the Wachowski sisters and embarked on a series of disastrous projects you’ve probably never heard of.

Depraved students reenact Charlie Kirk’s death in SCHOOL hallways one year after assassination: ‘Happy Kirkaversary’

Students have sparked outrage after filming themselves reenacting the assassination of Charlie Kirk in school hallways and classrooms on the first anniversary of his killing.

One video sickeningly declared: ‘Happy Kirkaversary to those who celebrate.’

The disturbing social media trend emerged earlier this week and sees young people mimicking the moment the conservative activist was fatally shot, turning his public killing into choreographed dances and memes.

3 categories I’m watching this fall that will define Canada’s future

3 categories I’m watching this fall that will define Canada’s future

Don’t blink this fall. It’s going to be a critical — and unpredictable — few months for our country. That’s why I’m watching three categories of events: cheers, jeers, and peers.

First up is a phenomenon called cheering theory, where people root for a proposition or person or institution. This is Canada’s secret weapon in the trade war against the United States, because Canadians are cheering for their federal government so loudly that it’s a self-reinforcing roar. People want Prime Minister Mark Carney to succeed — even plenty of people who didn’t vote Liberal in the last election. Seven in 10 Canadians support the decision to suspend trade talks with the U.S. rather than accept a bad deal, according to Abacus Data. When was the last time any public policy initiative had that level of backing? The Liberals are winning byelection after byelection. Look at the public comments on Carney’s latest Forward Guidance video and you’ll see more positivity than you knew existed on the internet. One Australian commenter said, “I don’t even know what elbows up means, but ELBOWS UP!” Whatever the game, people want Carney to win.

AfD lodges defamation complaint against Merz over ‘ethnic cleansing’ accusations

Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) has filed a criminal complaint against Chancellor Friedrich Merz over remarks he made in the Bundestag on September 9.

In the budget debate Merz said the party’s “remigration” slogan was “nothing other than a synonym for ethnic cleansing based on origin and skin colour”.

The AfD parliamentary group says that is a defamatory insult.

The end times fascists are plotting their escape from our world. Our mission is clear

When Jeff Bezos announced his plan for an opulent Venetian wedding in early 2025, many locals found the idea offensive, even obscene. A growing number of residents were struggling to find secure and affordable housing in a city overrun by tourists and Airbnb, and the billionaire was planning to, in effect, rent out the municipality for three days, forking over an estimated $50m for festivities that would clog central canals and block well-trafficked streets. Worse, Amazon’s carbon emissions were soaring, thanks to artificial intelligence and the datacentre build out – and that’s personal in Venice, where the streets already flood dozens of times a year.

Can Britain learn from Sweden’s immigration crackdown?

Can Britain learn from Sweden’s immigration crackdown?

There is a decisive shift occurring in European politics. It’s happening across nations – and parties. It lies behind the far-right Alternative für Deutschland’s victory in the Saxony-Anhalt state election last weekend. And it is the under-reported factor in the close general election being fought in Sweden this weekend. In almost every part of the continent, the politics of crime, security, migration and citizenship is driving governments to harden their borders and toughen their approach towards integration, especially when it comes to Islamism.

I doubt it.

Climate Crank Critiques Carney’s Climate Crankiness

David Suzuki: Mark Carney’s investment summit is bound to fail unless it faces this fundamental issue

Prime Minister Mark Carney has invited 300 global CEOs, entrepreneurs and institutional financiers to a Canada Investment Summit. They collectively manage $120 trillion in global assets and the goal of the conference is to catalyze private and sovereign capital into Canadian industries. I understand the urgent need to stand up against Trump, a bullying madman, by reducing our dependence on US markets and I applaud Carney’s efforts. He’s a smart, tough guy.
