The Carney Rowboat Versus the Trump Aircraft Carrier

The Carney Rowboat Versus the Trump Aircraft Carrier

“This is my piece on President Trump’s five new proclamations signed this week, which should end any illusion in Ottawa that this trade fight is a negotiation among equals.

As the White House notes, “President Trump is taking decisive and appropriate action to respond to Canada’s additional retaliation and continued discriminatory treatment of crucial American exports.”

This means that as of September 29, Canadian beer, wine, spirits, whey, molasses, and heavyweight motorcycles will not merely be taxed at the American border. Under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, they will be banned.

Name the Enemy: The 25th Anniversary of 9/11 Still Demands It

Name the Enemy: The 25th Anniversary of 9/11 Still Demands It

September 11 is not a day for vague emotional uplift. It is not a seminar on American foreign policy. It is not an occasion to distort a massacre into “differences with the United States.” It is the anniversary of a morning when Islamist terrorists murdered nearly three thousand people on American soil.

Calls to unite Americans and “do a good deed” to honor those murdered by these terrorists are fine if they come with a clear account of who attacked this country, why they did it, and a hard commitment that it must never happen again.

Trump Sees Canada Deal ‘Fairly Soon,’ Downplays Leaving USMCA

President Donald Trump expressed optimism about resolving a trade fight with Canada and downplayed the prospect of quitting a continental trade pact, in a potential sign of de-escalating tensions between the two countries.

Trump was asked Saturday whether he intended to have the US leave the US-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement during a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin in Dublin.

“We’re doing great. We’re going to have a great relationship with Mexico. We actually have a good one with Canada,” Trump said.

Egyptian mummy removed from display out of ‘respect for her wishes’

The mummified body of an ancient Egyptian woman has been removed from display after 200 years out of “respect for her wishes”.

Curators at Manchester Museum decided to remove the 2,700-year-old remains of a woman named Asru from the public collection and place them in storage, amid a growing debate about the ethics of showing the remains of ancient Egyptians.

Asru’s body had been displayed at Manchester Museum since 1825. It was the last mummified body on public display at the museum.

Women of Piddington plead with female MPs not to abandon them amid fears they will be outnumbered ten to one by male asylum seekers

Women in the village of Piddington have demanded answers from female MPs in an open letter, amid fears of being outnumbered ten to one by asylum seekers.

Labour is said to have drawn up plans to house up to 3,500 single male asylum seekers at a former military site near the Oxfordshire village, which is home to just 350.

Early reports suggested the Home Office had deemed a former Ministry of Defence site near Piddington and Upper Arncott could house around 1,250 migrants.

Canada’s oil windfall may yet wipe out its losses from tariffs

Canada’s oil windfall may yet wipe out its losses from tariffs

Canadians are well aware of the damage U.S. President Donald Trump has inflicted on this country by signing off on tariffs targeting about $27.6 billion in Canadian products.

But thanks to his unsuccessful management of the Iran war, Trump’s other hand is effectively writing cheques to the Canadian economy, drawing on funds paid by U.S. consumers at the gas pump.

In fact, the extra money now flowing into Canadian coffers — for context, Canada supplied the U.S. with more than 60 per cent of its crude oil imports last year — will go a long way to making up tariff losses, and could end up more than compensating for them.

All We Needed After 9/11 Was A Closed Border. Instead We Got Spied On And Force-Fed Halal Food

All We Needed After 9/11 Was A Closed Border. Instead We Got Spied On And Force-Fed Halal Food

In order to prevent another 9/11, the only policy the American government needed to pursue was closing down the borders and never allowing Third-Worlders into the country again. Politicians not only refused to do that, but actually did the opposite.

Instead, Americans got stuck with a mass surveillance state, two forever wars, the importation of countless Third-Worlders, and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which to date has never stopped a terror attack, but has made Americans’ travel experience miserable. Americans, in other words, got a major reshuffling of their constitutional rights in favor of government power, and a homeland that quickly became unrecognizable.

Sweden discovers deporting immigrant gangsters reduces crime

Sweden discovers deporting immigrant gangsters reduces crime

Among the things a police career taught me is that a small number—usually single digits—of felons commit most felonies. They’ll draw in other criminals, involve them in their crimes, and when convenient, abandon them to arrest. There is no honor among thieves. And the number of the most prolific felons increases and decreases slightly from place to place, and in relation to the specific type of crime.

In some places, crooks specialize in home or business burglaries. In others, specialization might involve burglarizing vehicles or carjacking.

Prosecutors Fight to Put Bank Files Alleging Huawei’s Ties to China’s Military, Chinese Intelligence and Iran’s Army Before a Brooklyn Jury. Huawei Is Fighting to Bury Them

BROOKLYN, New York — Federal prosecutors are fighting to show Huawei’s jury internal bank records citing alleged links to China’s military and intelligence services, and to play videotaped testimony in which they asked a veteran banking compliance executive about “general concerns about Huawei’s ties to the Iranian military.”
