CHARLEBOIS: Canada’s most wasteful generation? The answer may surprise you

CHARLEBOIS: Canada’s most wasteful generation? The answer may surprise you

Canadians often blame grocery stores, food manufacturers or governments for food waste. Yet much of the waste occurs in our own kitchens, often for one simple reason: We misunderstand food date labels.

New survey data from the Agri-Food Analytics Lab in partnership with Caddle, based on responses from 3,000 Canadians, reveal that the vast majority of households continue to throw away food once it passes its use-by date. While only 11% of Canadians said they always discard food after the date has passed, another 20% do so often and 37% do so sometimes. In other words, nearly seven in 10 Canadians allow date labels to influence their decision to dispose of food.

New Reports: Nuclear War with China Coming

New Reports: Nuclear War with China Coming

“The risk of nuclear conflict is rising, with the world on the cusp of a nuclear-arms race centered on the Asia-Pacific,” writes the International Institute for Strategic Studies this month. “China’s expanding military capabilities and North Korea’s growing arsenal are driving the assertive force postures and procurement decisions of regional states and the U.S.”

“Apart from small additions to the arsenals of India and Pakistan, the only nations increasing deployed nuclear weapons are Russia, North Korea, and China,” Peter Huessy of the National Institute for Deterrence Studies and the Gold Institute for International Strategy told Gatestone last week.

A Social Media Ban for Minors Requires Data From Everyone

A Social Media Ban for Minors Requires Data From Everyone

In debating a social media ban for minors, it appears we face a choice between two perceived harms. One is the reported damage that social media is doing to the mental health of children and adolescents. The other is the normalization of mass age verification systems—most likely involving biometrics—that would apply to everyone, not just minors. This carries real risks of privacy invasion, data breaches, and future mission creep.

That’s a feature not a bug.

Carney greets first shipment of ChiCom EV slaves to Canada in anticipation of Master Negotiator Joly’s successful mission

Canada’s Industry Minister Mélanie Joly is in China this week courting four Chinese automakers she wants to build electric vehicles on Canadian soil, the clearest test yet of whether Ottawa can convert tariff relief into local factories.

Joly is meeting BYD, Chery, Geely and Shanghai Launch Automotive Technology, each of which has been weighing a Canadian investment, she told The Globe and Mail.

Canadian ambassador to U.S. downplays July 1 urgency of CUSMA negotiations

Canadian ambassador to U.S. downplays July 1 urgency of CUSMA negotiations

Canadian ambassador to the U.S. Mark Wiseman says he wants Canada to be more “top-of-mind” for Americans, while downplaying the urgency around the July 1 deadline for the renewal of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).

“Americans don’t wake up every day thinking about Canada,” Wiseman said during a fireside chat with BMO CEO Darryl White at the Canadian Club in Toronto on Monday.

Wiseman is Carney’s boy, in on the con. Wiseman is a proponent of Open Borders replacement migration arguing for a no vetting policy.

Vivian Bercovici: Carney is our Chamberlain, not our Churchill

Vivian Bercovici: Carney is our Chamberlain, not our Churchill

Just last Monday, Prime Minister Mark Carney gave a speech at a synagogue in Toronto. Few people were invited to attend and those who did were given little advance warning.

The minister of artificial intelligence, Evan Solomon, took the podium to introduce his boss in glowing terms: a great leader who cared deeply about the “scourge” of antisemitism in Canada. The event was highly anticipated, for some. Canadian Jews have been targeted with increasingly violent and frequent incitement and hatred. Carney has had little, if anything, to say. His decision to address the community was long overdue.

Russian frigate fires warning shots at British yacht in Channel – reports

The Ministry of Defence is investigating reports that a Russian frigate, the Admiral Grigorovich, fired warning shots on Tuesday morning within 500 metres of a British yacht sailing a little over 20 miles south of the Isle of Wight.

No injuries or damage have been reported by the yacht, a pleasure boat, which continued its journey. A boat from HMS Tyne, a patrol vessel, has visited the yacht to gather details and check the crew are safe.

The incident came just days after the UK seized a Russia-linked oil tanker, the Smyrtos, off the coast of the Isle of Wight, the first time British forces have led the seizure of a sanctioned vessel since the start of the war against Ukraine.

Why Alberta’s new oil pipeline may never be built

Why Alberta’s new oil pipeline may never be built

In less than two weeks Alberta is expected to deliver to the federal government a solid proposal for a pipeline to the northwest coast of B.C. But so far there is no private sector partner willing to come forward to pay for it.

This is definitely a fly in the ointment of a proposal that Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has been flogging for years. She finally got some encouragement from the federal government in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Prime Minister Mark Carney and herself in November.

Carney weighted the “Aboriginal” cost making any project likely to fail.

SPLC boss funneled $1.2 million to lover in neo-Nazi group — pair even had joint bank account

A top Southern Poverty Law Center official is accused of helping funnel $1.2 million in donor money to an informant in the National Alliance white supremacist group — who was also allegedly her lover.

The Department of Justice filed a superseding indictment against the SPLC accusing it of funneling donor cash to hate groups they were then telling donors they were fighting.

One figure, referred to as “Employee-2” in the indictment, is described as a “person who would become Director of the SPLC’s Intelligence Project.”

LILLEY: Carney government policy a threat to our auto industry

Mark Carney’s industry minister, Melanie Joly, is in China trying to attract auto investment while Carney’s government attempts to kill off our existing auto industry. In an interview with the Globe and Mail, Joly explained how she wants Chinese-made electric vehicles to be built in Canada.

The question should always be “How does this benefit Brookfield?”

Carney the “Master Negotiator”  is negotiating his cut from the death of our auto industry. Blame Xi or Trump Carney remains a carpetbagger nothing more.

FBI disrupts alleged explosive-drone plot targeting White House UFC event, officials say

The FBI and its law enforcement partners disrupted an alleged plot targeting this weekend’s UFC Freedom 250 event in Washington, D.C., officials told Fox News Digital.

Five people were in custody as of Monday, and investigators identified 23 people as part of a potential network of plotters. The alleged plan involved using explosive-laden drones to hit buildings near the event, force a mass evacuation and steer crowds toward a pre-staged sniper team, officials said.

A “second wave” was then allegedly planned to storm the White House gate, according to officials.
