Last week, the State Department released a report detailing decades of Cuban espionage and its collaboration with far-left radical organizations in America. The report, which implicated dozens of groups and individuals, is just the latest in a push by the department to counteract Cuban influence.

Trump has singled out us Canadians for special treatment in his tariff war – there is no choice but to get nasty
Though many hate to admit it, Canadians have long wished for more attention from the US. Well, we’re getting it now. And it turns out that President Trump and some of his top supporters in the Maga movement don’t much like us.
The first big hint was when he started talking about annexing us, saying we couldn’t survive without American support. But the most recent example of Trump’s dislike for Canada can be seen in his latest tariff policies. Canada was largely spared the impact of his “Liberation Day” tariffs in April 2025 by its pre-existing free trade deal with the US (and Mexico), but earlier this month, as expected, the US declined to extend that deal for another 16-year term. It’s now subject to annual renegotiations. Then, last week, the White House announced tariffs as high as 50% on a selection of Canadian products including, for the first time, items previously protected by the trade agreement. The US called it retaliation for Canadian trade practices.
“The White House fails to understand that Mark Carney and Canada’s regional leaders can’t cave in to the US president: it’s too toxic to voters.”
If you told me Carney was in cahoots with Trump I’d hear you out.
Freeland is a big help as usual.
🚨 FREELAND: "US IS A BIGGER THREAT THAN CHINA" 🚨😡
Chrystia Freeland just told Wall Street Week that many Canadians now trust Beijing MORE than Washington.
Let that sink in.

Words Meant to Kill: Intended Consequences of Freedom of Speech
Muslim imams in the United States continue to teach jihadist ideology and Islamic supremacism, promote anti-Western sentiments and antisemitism, and incite violence against non-Muslims.
“The Fourth of July has nothing to do with us,” Islamic scholar Hamaad El-Ameen declared in a Friday sermon on July 3, 2026 at the Islamic Center of Chattanooga, Tennessee. “That is not a declaration of independence for us. Our allegiance is to Allah.”
Doug Ford’s MPPs criticize Mark Carney’s Alto high-speed rail project after Billy Bishop veto
Stung by Prime Minister Mark Carney’s rethink on Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, Premier Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives are now expressing doubts about Ottawa’s Alto high-speed rail scheme.
In a transportation megaproject tit-for-tat, 11 Tory MPPs have issued a statement critical of Carney’s proposed rail line connecting Toronto to Quebec City.
As first disclosed by the Star on Monday, the two major infrastructure plans are linked in an informal deal between the federal and provincial governments.
‘It’s a Joke, But It’s Not a Joke’: MS NOW Claims Trump Wants a 2028 Run
When it comes to political comedy or satire, the left only tolerates it from their side. As soon as someone makes a joke they don’t like, they bring out the cancel culture mob. This phenomenon is easily observable when the leftist media tries to cover President Donald Trump, which is what Ali Velshi did on Monday’s episode of The 11th Hour on MS NOW when he and Vox correspondent Zack Beauchamp took issue with Trump joking about running for president a fourth time at his recent rallies and the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Salsa on St. Clair loses key sponsor following deadly shooting
The Salsa on St. Clair festival has lost one of its key sponsors weeks after a shooting that left two people dead.
In a July 23 letter, reviewed by CP24, the Hillcrest Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) advised festival organizers Canadian Salsa Festival and TLN Media Group that its board voted to discontinue its sponsorship of the two-day event.
Chair Heather Hannah said in the letter that while they have been “proud” to sponsor and host the event for many years, it believes Salsa on St. Clair has “outgrown both the neighbourhood and the capacity” of the BIA.

COVID Origins Coverup Was Fauci’s First and Highest Priority
It’s clear that Anthony Fauci was fairly certain that he had funded the Gain-of-Function research that likely created the COVID virus from the very beginning of the pandemic, and that his top priority was covering up that fact
It was priority #1, even before addressing the public health danger.
GOLDSTEIN: Freedom Convoy didn’t endanger democracy, Trudeau did
More than four years after the Freedom Convoy protesters arrived in Ottawa in late January 2022, it’s now clear the real threat to democracy was Justin Trudeau’s imposition of the Emergencies Act, not the actions of the demonstrators.
Nolte: One-Third of Democrats Identify as Democrat Socialists
Far-left CNN reports that “about a third of Democrats and Democratic-leaning adults identify as democratic socialists,” per the latest polling.
This is a big problem for an increasingly radicalized Democrat Party that continues to move further and further to the left and far out of mainstream thinking on issues like abolishing prisons, abolishing the U.S. Senate, sexualizing and queering little kids, defunding the police, open borders, socialized medicine, annihilating Israel, and outright property confiscation.
Judicial review of ethics ruling in Trudeau We Charity case can proceed, Supreme Court says
OTTAWA — The Supreme Court of Canada says a watchdog group can pursue a court challenge of a federal ethics report on Justin Trudeau’s involvement in decisions about WE Charity.
In May 2021, then-federal ethics commissioner Mario Dion concluded that Trudeau, prime minister at the time, did not breach the Conflict of Interest Act when he participated in decisions concerning WE Charity, which operated in Canada and abroad.
The group Democracy Watch applied soon after for judicial review of Dion’s ruling in the Federal Court of Appeal.
Gutfeld Nails the Democrats on Their Big Lie About Who They Really Are
Have you ever noticed how, more often than not, Democrats have to pretend to be more moderate than they really are during an election cycle? Barack Obama ran the con in 2008. He said he’d be a uniter who worked with both parties. He said he supported traditional marriage. He said he didn’t want socialized medicine. He said he wanted strong borders. Then he pushed this country far, far, far, far to the left.

Rob Breakenridge: Canadians would be better off without supply management
It’s curious that Donald Trump would be so fixated on Canadian trade practices if he, as he stated this week, doesn’t care about updating the current trade agreement and that he’d “rather be independent.”
It’s also interesting that the U.S. president is so bothered by Canada’s dairy protectionism, when he himself is such a defender of tariffs as smart and sound economic policy. The U.S. certainly maintains all sorts of agricultural protectionism policies, notably the tariffs and cartel system that protect the U.S. sugar industry.
A shrinking weapons stockpile is testing the Pentagon’s sweeping new strategy
In a late-June meeting with more than a dozen of the nation’s top defense technology firms, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had an urgent message: The Pentagon needed their help to rapidly replenish America’s weapons arsenal.
Outside the room, the United States was mired in a conflict with Iran that was rapidly depleting U.S. stocks of missiles and interceptors. According to three people familiar with the meeting, some of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information, Hegseth told executives that their companies would be critical to restocking the nation’s supplies.
CHARLEBOIS: Have you eaten halal meat without knowing it?
Halal meat is no longer a niche product in Canada. It is sold by major grocers, restaurant chains, independent butchers and institutional food-service providers. Canada’s halal meat market is estimated to be worth roughly $2 billion annually, supported by a Muslim population that numbered nearly 1.8 million in the 2021 census and has continued to grow.

Why Fauci Matters
He’s not just a powerful guy who acted in bad faith. He’s a totem to a whole class of people who don’t care about that.
This is old inside- baseball blogger stuff in part, but there’s a bigger lesson.
Old time (and I mean old-time) blog readers may remember Jeff Jarvis’s fierce post-9/11 warblogging, which pivoted rather suddenly into leftish pro-Democratic blogging in time for the 2004 election. Jeff and I were close before the pivot (he got me my long-ago MSNBC gig), and remained friendly even after. We were Facebook friends from the beginning, though our interactions over the past decade-plus were confined to the occasional like or happy birthday.
