When ‘saving lives’ with bike lanes means costing them

“Bike lanes save lives.” That’s the slogan repeated endlessly by the cycling lobby, shouted as if it’s beyond question. But slogans don’t save lives — emergency response times do.

And according to data obtained through a Freedom of Information request by Balance on Bloor, the bike lanes on Bloor Street West are causing delays of up to two and a half minutes for ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars. In the world of emergency medicine, that delay is a death sentence.

The Radio-Canada controversy is not some politically correct language war – it’s far worse

On Monday afternoon, on Radio-Canada’s Ici RDI news channel, host Christian Latreille asked the network’s Washington, D.C.-based reporter, Élisa Serret, why the United States had not done more to distance itself from Israel. Her response led to Radio-Canada pulling her off the air and putting her on leave.

The uproar was more than justified. But it’s important to look at what she said, and what was wrong with it.

Reflections on the Coming Days of Rage

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was already positively impacting the world with his indefatigable, peaceful, joyful, godly work to change hearts and minds, but in mere days, his assassination by a cowardly sniper’s bullet has already launched a tsunami of change he likely could not have imagined. OTTAWA — Canadian automakers are warning they could be on the hook for billions of dollars in credit purchases if Canada’s electric vehicle mandate is enforced as written, and sales don’t ramp up.
