In 2019, Jamaican national Dwayne Marlon Douglas committed a number of vile acts. He held a gun to the head of a sex worker as three of his male companions took turns having sex with her; then, he had his way too.

Days after that, he pistol-whipped a man with an imitation handgun, stole his phone and other valuables, and threatened to kill him if he reported the robbery to police. He also robbed a female erotic masseuse in a stairwell around the same time, stealing $4,300 worth of items; after she reported the crime, he told her she was in “trouble.” He also distributed nude photographs of his girlfriend for money without her consent.

Canada considers cancelling part of U.S. F-35 order to buy 60 Swedish Gripen fighters.

Canada is considering a major overhaul of its fighter modernization plan, according to a May 30, 2026, report by La Presse, indicating Ottawa may replace much of its planned 88 F-35 fleet with roughly 60 Saab Gripen fighters while retaining 30 F-35As. This potential shift to a Canada mixed fighter fleet aims to reduce reliance on US defense supply chains and political leverage while preserving core fifth-generation capabilities for NORAD and NATO operations.

Mark Carney had a blithe response to the departure of a star Liberal. Here’s why he may regret it

When reporters asked Mark Carney about Steven Guilbeault’s decision to quit the Liberal caucus and his seat, months after walking out of cabinet over the Alberta MOU, the Prime Minister was gracious. He wished him and his family well. As reported by Radio-Canada, Carney said: “C’est sa décision, c’est normal, c’est la vie” — it’s his decision, it’s normal, that’s life.

Carney came to office with a French that even friendly observers called tentative. But a Prime Minister saying “c’est la vie” about a cabinet minister leaving over principle is a careful and deliberate choice of words. There’s no apology in it, no spin. It says: this is what needed to happen in this moment, and yes, people will leave.

Zelenskyy asks Trump to send missiles after Russian strikes across Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked Donald Trump to send Patriot missiles to Ukraine after a devastating Russian attack killed at least 18 people and injured dozens more.

Russia launched 73 missiles and 656 drones at Ukraine overnight, according to the air force, including eight hypersonic Tsirkon missiles. The main targets were Kyiv, the central cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, and the eastern cities of Poltava and Kharkiv.

Russia launched a major air attack against Ukraine overnight, launching more than 700 missiles and drones.

At least 13 Ukrainian civilians were killed and 100+ wounded.

But talk is cheap. In terms of actual policy prescriptions, Carney might as well have held up a white flag and admitted he has no idea what to do.

In a prerecorded message preceding Carney’s address, the synagogue’s chief rabbi, Yael Splansky, called on Canada to “make good on its promise of peace, order and good government,” noting that, “When hate is tolerated, it grows … when laws are not enforced, permission is granted and lawlessness escalates.

Carney has no shame.

Accused ISIS bride Rayann El Houli renounces terrorist group and reveals face as gesture of ‘good faith’ – after being charged upon return to Australia

A woman accused of travelling to Syria, joining the Islamic State and marrying a number of its members has renounced the terror group and violent jihad, her lawyer says.

Rayann El Houli, 34, was due to apply for bail in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday morning but her barrister Peter Morrissey SC sought an adjournment.

He told the court the prosecution had raised concerns about El Houli’s risk of endangering the community, claiming there was a lack of evidence she had renounced ISIS.

Student Henry Nowak who was handcuffed as he lay dying after being stabbed told officers “I can’t breathe”, bodycam footage shows.

The 18-year-old Southampton university student was handcuffed after his killer Vickrum Digwa, 23, lied to police at the scene of the 2025 stabbing claiming he had been the victim of a racist attack.

Canada tells U.S., Mexico it wants CUSMA renewed

Canada has given the U.S. and Mexico official notice that it wants the free trade deal between the three countries to be renewed.

In a letter to his American and Mexican counterparts, Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc said the country is seeking renewal of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) when it comes up for review on July 1.

The US has spoke of separate Mexico/Canada deals.

The men of my tribe [extended family] threw my relative Kawthar Bashar al-Husayjawi, 15, into a pit and put a little dirt over her body. They had killed her hours earlier with 10 bullets, and split her small head with an axe. My family then joined others in coming on to the streets to dance and celebrate her death.

Kawthar lived in al-Nahrawan, a district in the south-east of Baghdad. She had been taken out of school and at age 13 forced to marry an alcoholic years older than her.

Federal poll finds nearly half of Canadians think country takes ‘too many immigrants’

OTTAWA — A survey commissioned by the federal government late last year suggests nearly half of Canadians believe the country is admitting too many immigrants — but the share of respondents who think so has dropped since last year’s polling.

The survey found 47 per cent of respondents believe “too many” immigrants are coming to Canada, while 38 per cent say “about the right amount” are coming.

A similar government poll conducted in late 2024 reported 54 per cent of respondents saying that “too many” immigrants were coming to Canada.

I bet the poll respondents in favour of immigration are foreigners.
