Cuba: Amid blockade, Pentagon chief issues military warning

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a warning to Cuba during a visit to the US military base at Guantanamo Bay on Wednesday.

“It would be unwise of the government of Cuba to try to procure or get access to the types of ⁠weapons that could reach this base or the American homeland,” Hegseth said, without offering details on such weaponry.

“They would be inviting the kind of confrontation not only ⁠do they not want but they could ⁠not stand,” he said, claiming that “no country on Earth can match the capabilities of the United States of America.”

Honda just issued a warning about its future in Canada. That could inadvertently hand a win to Chinese EV makers

One of Ontario’s biggest and most reliable automakers is warning Canadians not to take its presence here for granted.

“Companies don’t automatically keep building vehicles in the same country just because it’s always been that way,” Honda Canada president Dave Jamieson told an industry summit convened by the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association in Vaughan this week.

It wasn’t a throwaway line. Jamieson spent almost his entire speech — one of his first since taking the job last year — making the case that Canada is at a policy crossroads that could determine whether his company keeps investing in its manufacturing base in Alliston, Ont.

President Trump threatened to strike Iran “VERY HARD” again Thursday night and take “total control” of the country’s oil and gas markets, a sign that he has abandoned the diplomatic route and is aiming to force Tehran into a nuclear deal it has resisted for months.

The U.S. “in the not too distant future” would be taking Kharg Island, which sits off Iran’s southern coast and is the country’s main oil export hub, Trump added in the Truth Social post, “and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America.”

In recent days, while Britons have been in an uproar over the December 3 butchery of 18-year-old Henry Nowak in Southampton by a knife-wielding Sikh, who was convicted of the murder on May 28, many Norwegians have been worked up over a similar crime. Late on the evening of May 17 – which in Norway is Constitution Day, a festive occasion celebrated around the country with parades and parties – an 18-year old boy, as yet unnamed by authorities, was brutally beaten by four individuals, strangers to him, who were aged between 15 and 17. Unlike Henry Nowak, the victim in Bergen survived the assault, which was completely unprovoked. At the time of the incident, he was dressed in a one-piece blue outfit that identified him as a “russ,” a person who is about to graduate, or who has just graduated, from secondary school. By all accounts he did nothing to provoke the attack, which was filmed by one of two witnesses who then shared the video on social media.
