Is It Possible Hollywood Is Losing Its Itch to Please LGBTQ Lobbyists?

Is it possible that the Republican war on so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” is having an effect on the movies? The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is expressing alarm at the decline of LGBTQ characters at the movies – it’s at 20.4 percent of 2025 films in their latest tally, down from 28.5 percent in 2022.

Worse yet for the GLAAD squad, none of the 19 films in the animated/family film category had any of LGBTQ characters in it, which they find alarming. Last year, the ratio was two out of 26.

Dharla, a CBSA detector dog, sniffs out almost 38 kg of undeclared meat at Toronto Pearson

Detector dog Dharla recently intercepted 37.8 kilograms of undeclared food and animal products at Toronto Pearson International Airport, says Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

The goods, which a CBSA spokesperson said include undeclared chicken, guinea fowl, goat, cowhide, and powdered milk, came from a traveller who arrived at the airport on June 19 from Nigeria.

Lyrah and Madelynn did a good job on this topic in the latest edition of the Spectator P.M. podcast, but I did want to pass along a take on that very large, steaming turd of a “study” laid down by CNBC, which claimed that Tennessee and Texas are the two worst states in America to live.

The study itself is a big, fat nothing. It claims that Tennessee is the worst state in America to live, followed by Texas, Indiana, Louisiana, and Georgia to round out the bottom five.

Ontario tourism minister Stan Cho resigns over hotel expenses scandal

Tourism, Culture and Gaming Minister Stan Cho has resigned from cabinet after a week of scandal over his spending on hotels in Toronto, despite living six kilometres from Queen’s Park.

Global News was first to report that Cho, whose home is seven subway stops from the legislature, had billed more than $16,000 to the taxpayer for hotel stays downtown over the past three years.

Nowak killer’s mother jailed for removing murder weapon

The mother of Henry Nowak’s killer has been jailed for three years after removing her son’s murder weapon from the scene.

Vickrum Digwa stabbed the university student with a large knife in the street in Southampton then handed the 8in blade to Kiran Kaur, 53, his mother.

The killing prompted accusations of two-tier policing after it emerged that officers had believed Digwa’s claims that he had been the victim of racist abuse.

Lawyers for Canada’s Minister of Public Safety will be in Federal Court Friday trying to keep an alleged Bishnoi gang member who faces a murder charge in India in custody while he fights the government’s efforts to deport him.

According to documents obtained by CBC News, FBI reports claim gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi personally tasked Karamveer Singh with “the responsibility to care for his brother Anmol” in California before Singh fled to Canada in 2025 after being denied immigration status in the United States.

Iran accuses US of hitting civilian infrastructure

Iran has accused the US of hitting civilian infrastructure in the latest wave of air strikes since peace talks collapsed.

State media and provincial authorities said bridges, a train station and an airport were hit. BBC Verify has confirmed an attack on a bridge in Hormozgan province.

US Central Command (Centcom) has not given a list of targets, but said the attacks were intended to “further degrade Iranian military capabilities”.

Canada joining international program to build next generation of fighter jets

Defence Minister David McGuinty is expected to announce next week in the United Kingdom that Canada will play a role in an international program to build the next generation of stealth fighter jets, CBC News has learned.

Canada has reached a deal to join the Global Combat Air Program as an “observer,” Canadian government sources said.

The U.K., Japan and Italy are all partners in the multibillion-dollar program to develop and build the sixth-generation fighter jet by 2035.
