Soaring rents in Toronto, Vancouver force residents on modest incomes into ‘deplorable’ conditions

With Vancouver and Toronto vacancy rates at 0.9 and 1.7 per cent respectively, and rental prices surging, seniors, students, new immigrants, single parents and people with disabilities — those on modest or fixed incomes — are being priced out of their communities.

Ren Thomas, associate professor of planning at Dalhousie University in Halifax, warns it’s a real loss for our biggest cities.

“You need that diversity — and that’s what makes our big cities great is we have there, you know, different people in different jobs,” said Thomas.

Rents Are Soaring in Canada as Surge of People Goes Undercounted

Canada’s explosive population growth from immigration is causing rents to surge in its biggest cities. And there’s another problem: The country isn’t even properly counting the number of people who need homes.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government plans to welcome 465,000 new permanent residents this year, and increase the annual target to half a million by 2025. But those often-cited numbers understate the pressure on the country’s limited supply of housing —because they don’t include a wave of foreign students, temporary workers and others with non-permanent visas.

Canada’s worker ‘shortage’ is an illusion, and bringing in cheap labour doesn’t help

… Rather than not enough workers, the issue is that the prices of the goods and services that workers produce have increased faster than their wages, motivating businesses to hire more workers and sell more.

Canada’s current tight labour markets overwhelmingly reflect increases in the demand for workers, not a decline in their numbers. And the solution is not to satiate that demand with cheap labour, which undermines labour productivity and average economic living standards in the population.

The CPC lost my vote because they refuse to speak out on the mass immigration scandal.

They want bodies to feed the greed of the corporate class and they don’t care where they come from or how damaging the impact is on you and your family.

Tory has left the building. What happens to his housing plan?

… Too many people are vying for too few homes. This has left newcomers desperate, while long-time residents flee to distant cities or other provinces. Almost everyone along the spectrum of housing is feeling the impact. For some it’s an inconvenience; for others, it means being pushed out of rooming houses and older affordable apartments as the rent goes up. The sea is rising, and only those with money can afford lifeboats.

The problem is simple: It is extremely difficult to build housing in Toronto. Apartment buildings of five stories or more are illegal on 90 per cent of land. And in house neighbourhoods full of wealthy people, large apartments are banned completely.

Tim Hortons franchisee in P.E.I. evicts tenants to make way for temporary foreign workers

One of three people fighting eviction notices they received from the local Tim Hortons franchisee in Souris, P.E.I., says the company has no legal grounds to make tenants leave their apartment building.

D.P. Murphy Inc., which operates a number of Tim Hortons franchises across Prince Edward Island, bought the apartment building at 4 Pleasant St. in November, and issued eviction notices to the tenants on Jan. 5.

According to documents filed by the company with the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission, P.E.I.’s rentals regulator, the company plans to use the building to house temporary foreign workers.

Tim Horton’s disgusts me. They literally built the Temporary Foreign Workers program into their business plan.

Conservatives woo ethnic-minority, newcomer voters, in bid to flip key seats from Liberals

The Conservatives are wooing ethnic-minority Canadians and newcomers to try to broaden their support in urban and suburban seats they need to win the next election, as a new poll shows the Tories have nibbled away at the Liberals’ lead among racialized voters since Pierre Poilievre became leader.

The strategy, echoing an approach by former Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper, is being backed by more advertising in ethnic-minority media and a ramping up of engagement at community events by Mr. Poilievre and his front bench.

Whether under an LPC-NDP or CPC government mass immigration is still mass immigration.

It will still degrade the historic bonds that unite us.

Your standard of living will continue its rapid decline.

Immigration policy is called the 3rd Rail of Canadian Politics for a reason – you’re being screwed and they don’t want you talking about it.

The Uniparty could save themselves some money by creating interchangeable election signage – “A Smaller piece of the pie for you” is a perfect truth in advertising slogan.

Send all asylum seekers to other provinces, Quebec premier tells Trudeau

Premier François Legault is urging Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to redirect all asylum seekers entering Quebec to other provinces “as soon as they arrive at the border.”

Legault issued this request to Trudeau in a letter obtained by Radio-Canada.

That letter is the latest attempt by the Quebec government to put pressure on Ottawa to reduce the flow of asylum seekers entering the province, especially through the irregular border crossing at Roxham Road.

Last week, Quebec Immigration Minister Christine Fréchette said the province’s message was finally getting through, as more migrants entering the country through Roxham Road were being sent to Ontario and other provinces.

How about we send Quebec to the 3rd world shithole of their choosing?

What’s driving Britain’s anti-migrant protests? – Anxiety over immigration isn’t fuelled by racism

Last week, after a demonstration against the housing of refugees in a Knowsley hotel turned violent, many on the Left were quick to denounce the protestors as fascists or racists, and to lay the blame on Suella Braverman for warning of a migrant “invasion”. There were more protests across the UK at the weekend; no doubt a similar response will follow.

New data reveals nationwide desire for lower immigration

New UnHerd Britain polling today reveals the strength of opposition across Britain to current levels of immigration: 57% of Britons agree with the statement “Immigration levels are too high”, compared to just 20% who disagree.

Man Who Rammed Anti-Mass Migration Protest with Car Blames ‘Racists‘

A man has denied deliberately ramming an anti-mass migration protest with his car, instead blaming the “racist mob” for causing the collision.

Stephen Bedford, 36, has reportedly denied allegations that he intentionally rammed his car into a number of anti-mass migration protesters earlier this week, accusing what he described as the “racist mob” of protesters — who were on foot — as causing the collision.

Near Roxham Road, RCMP border patrol relies on locals’ help – and tests their patience

While politicians in Ottawa and Quebec City bicker and negotiate over what to do about Roxham Road, locals must put up with frequent RCMP stops while at the same time trying to keep an eye open to help Mounties enforce border rules.

Matthias Kaiser, a farmer who owns land in the area near what is now internationally known as the official unofficial point of entry for asylum seekers in Canada, is used to interacting with law-enforcement agents from both sides of the border.

Hey you racists let’s talk Mass Immigration, Housing, & Healthcare

A discussion on limiting mass immigration will still get you called a racist.

None of the mainstream political parties will speak out against it because they all dance to the same master’s tune.

Canada’s immigration policy is driven by the greed of the corporate class to your detriment.

McKinsey is stealing your country.

The LPC-NDP-CPC Uniparty will not be getting my vote.

Now the NORTHERN border is a mess, too

Last week, President Joe Biden took a victory lap following news that our southern border had “only” 156,274 illegal encounters in January. Not only does his spin ignore the fact that last month was the worst January on record in over 20 years for illegal encounters at our southern border; it ignores the worsening cost at our northern border.

My district in upstate New York includes six counties in the Swanton Sector, the most active sector of our northern border. In just the first three months of this fiscal year, Biden’s failure to secure the southern border has increased illegal encounters in the Swanton Sector by over 700%.

Niagara sees ‘surge’ in demand for services as Trudeau’s illegal alien invaders are dumped in Ontario to appease Quebec

A community group in Ontario’s Niagara region says it was already dealing with a tripling of requests for assistance from asylum seekers before Ottawa recently began transferring more migrants to the province from Quebec.

Deanna D’Elia, the general manager of employment and immigrant services at the YMCA of Niagara, said her organization provides language assessments and helps new arrivals register their children in school and access other community resources. It began seeing a rise in demand around seven months ago.
