OTTAWA – Statistics Canada says the country’s home ownership rate is on the decline, with young millennials in particular less likely to own a home in 2021 than they were in 2011.
According to the latest census release, two-thirds of Canadians owned a home in 2021, down from a peak of 69 per cent a decade earlier.

A Canadian teacher from Ontario made the bizarre claim that basic mathematical equations such as 2+2=4 is somehow a form of “white supremacy.”

Ukraine has presented Canada with a new list of its military hardware needs as its army presses a counter-offensive against Russia in the east, CBC News has learned.

OTTAWA — The NDP is the first party out of the gate with an attack ad against Pierre Poilievre, launching the attempt to frame the new Conservative leader as “not in it for you” just as the fall sitting of Parliament gets underway.
The ad, sent Tuesday to party donors and set to roll out on social media on Tuesday, asks: “Who is the real Pierre Poilievre?” while showing the Conservative leader in his now trademark pensive pose made famous in his own ads for the Conservative leadership.

As we’ve all seen by now, pretty-boy Prime Minister Trudeau was caught on camera (possibly drunkenly) singing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody (and poorly at that) in a hotel bar on Saturday night before the state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II in London on Monday.
OTTAWA – A new poll suggests a plurality of Canadians still believe Justin Trudeau is still the best man for the job of prime minister, but he has only a slight lead over new Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.
Leger has released the findings of an online survey conducted over the weekend with around 1,500 respondents.
The results suggest the Liberals’ popularity has declined since one year ago, when Trudeau was re-elected for a second time to form a minority government.
If politicians and police forces don’t want to see a repeat of this winter’s protest in Ottawa, they would be well-served to take a step back and try to understand why the protests happened rather than obsessively trying to chase down and punish citizens who were found to be supportive of them.
The witch hunt being carried out against Const. Kristina Neilson of the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) who allegedly donated to the Freedom Convoy is only entrenching division and mistrust among Canadians.

It’s twice as high as the Canadian population as recently as 1980. It also means that over the next 19 years, we’ll be adding enough new Canadians to equal the present-day equivalent of all of Western Canada (the combined population of Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan and Manitoba was 11 million in the last census).

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declined to say Sunday whether Ottawa granted asylum to a former operative of Canada‘s spy service after he was freed from a Turkish prison last month for trafficking three underaged British schoolgirls to Islamic State militants.
Mr. Trudeau suggested, however, that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service would not have been allowed to run a double agent who engaged in the smuggling of minors under new rules brought in by his government in 2017.
This moment feels like a turning point for the Conservative Party of Canada, a true instance of hope and opportunity and the chance to break through in many places across the country where people regretfully vote Liberal.
“Decency and duty” were how Pierre Poilievre summarized the values embodied by the late Queen Elizabeth II in his victory speech, and how he promised the Conservative Party would serve Canadians. People have become so aware of the political tricks and fiscal irresponsibility of this government that serving in opposition with dignity, like our late Queen did, will be enough for the Conservatives to win Canada back.
OTTAWA — In a troubled world, Canadian democracy endures. But some sitting members of Parliament are worried — for various reasons — that it is getting weaker.
Ryan Turnbull is one of them. The Liberal MP for Whitby was first elected in 2019, and sees the problem through the lens of his education in philosophy: the ideal of democracy allows for public debate on a common ground of fact and reality, but Turnbull believes persistent misinformation and its self-serving weaponization by some politicians is threatening this shared basis for a functioning public discourse.
Mostly this is LPC, NDP and Elizabeth May griping about the scary convoy and such. The Star’s is gonna need a bigger fainting couch.

It comes so fast that Canada has already missed the boat on adding billions of dollars of economic growth to our economy every year, increasing global energy security and lowering global greenhouse gas emissions linked to climate change.
The Liberals have done great harm to Canadians on so many fronts it’s difficult to single out one as the worst.
