Notorious Ecuadorian crime gang designated a terrorist group by US

The US has designated Ecuador’s Los Tiguerones gang, which stormed a television station during a live broadcast in 2024, as a terrorist organisation as the Trump administration expands its campaign against narcotics traffickers it says are destabilising Latin America.

The US secretary of state, Marco Rubio, made the announcement in Quito, where he met Ecuadorian president Daniel Noboa, one of several rightwing allies of Donald Trump whom Rubio is courting as a security partner during a three-nation tour through Latin America that began on Tuesday.

Peter Menzies: Ottawa’s Quiet Embrace of the Chinese Regime Is Alarming

The most alarming aspect of Canada’s strategic partnership with China is how sneaky it has become.

It was considered a great coup in January when, as part of his circumnavigation of the globe culminating in his now famous Davos speech, Prime Minister Mark Carney travelled to Beijing to announce a “new strategic partnership” with Chinese leader Xi’s regime.

‘Women’ Sure Are Getting Creepier Now That They Have Testicles

‘Women’ Sure Are Getting Creepier Now That They Have Testicles

We can either despair at the insanity that is pervading Western society, or we can be resolved to fight it.

What we can’t do, if we want to keep our souls, is concede to the people redefining what is real, what is not, and excusing evil based on novel interpretations of basic, undeniable facts.

Critical Theory exists to erase the distinction between what is real and what it’s advocates desire, and in doing so reshape the realm of the possible, the acceptable, and even what is celebrated.

Will Canada’s top general win vote for key NATO job?

Canada’s top soldier will find out on the weekend whether she has been selected to lead NATO’s military committee at a time when the defence alliance faces some of the most difficult challenges in its history.

NATO’s chiefs of defence will meet Sept. 18 in Denmark as the military committee discusses ways to further strengthen the alliance, deal with new defence technologies and boost support for Ukraine.

But it will be a secret vote among the military leaders on Sept. 19 which will determine if Canada’s Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Jennie Carignan will be named as chair of the military committee (CMC) — NATO’s top military role.

In a drab New Jersey building, Trump finds his voter fraud ‘smoking gun’

“We’re not allowed to talk to journalists about this,” a nervous staff member says, avoiding eye contact.

Employees at the headquarters of the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) in New Jersey’s worn-out capital of Trenton are skittish. “No comment,” says another.

Inside the drab building, people queue in uniform lines and guards stand by. “No firearms inside,” reads the sign outside the concrete exterior.

Ben Woodfinden: The EU is an economic disaster. What exactly is Mark Carney after?

This Thursday, Prime Minister Mark Carney is due to address the opening of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Guest addresses like this aren’t unheard of, but they have mostly been reserved in recent years for civil society figures focused on Ukraine, which was already a signal that something significant was to be announced, and reporting has suggested that some sort of new relationship between Canada and the European Union was in the cards.

How Sweden is turning back the clock on years of mass migration

How Sweden is turning back the clock on years of mass migration

Before Hassan* arrived in Sweden, he didn’t know anything about the country.

At first, things went relatively well for the Syrian refugee, who moved his family to an apartment in the Skåne region, near Malmö.

Hassan found a job in a factory, while his wife returned to her studies and their four children joined a Swedish school, learning the language and making friends.

Poor Hassan!

Carney says government to open up Canada’s 4 largest airports to private investment

Prime Minister Mark Carney says his government will open up Canada’s four largest airports to private investment, but that Ottawa will maintain ultimate ownership.

The prime minister said the private money will be sought through “long-term concessions” to operate these airports, which would include Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport, Trudeau International Airport in Montreal and Calgary International Airport.

Federal prosecutors defend preferential hiring that puts white applicants last

Federal prosecutors say preferential hiring practices that give priority to racial minorities, indigenous people, people with disabilities and sexual minority applicants do not violate anti-discrimination provisions governing the federal workplace.

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada defended the practice after an internal job posting explicitly told employees belonging to designated groups they would be considered “before others,” according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

I’m sure the Elbow people endorse it, it makes them feel morally superior.

Palestinian migrant who raped 5 different women in Denmark has ‘life’ sentence reduced dramatically to just 2.5 years on appeal

A Danish high-court ruling has overturned an indefinite detention order against 43-year-old Wasim Essam Hajress, a man previously judged too dangerous to release due to five rapes he committed.

The stateless Palestinian, who was born in Lebanon, has now gone from what could have been a life sentence to a fixed prison sentence of two and a half years, a shocking judicial and legal reversal.

European Parliament to open Ottawa office as Carney seeks ‘unique alliance’ with EU

The European Parliament, a key institution of the European Union, is set to open an “antenna” office in Canada’s national capital as Prime Minister Mark Carney looks to deepen ties with the 27-member bloc.

“Europe and Canada share values, interests and a commitment to the same rules-based international order. Our new presence in Ottawa will turn that partnership into even closer parliamentary co-operation,” Roberta Metsola, president of the European Parliament, said in a news release on Monday.

Ottawa would be the 10th city where such an office is located, according to the news release, and the third in North America after New York and Washington.

I don’t want to share anything with the EU.

The Cult of Sterility: How Modern Culture Declared War on Human Fecundity

The Cult of Sterility: How Modern Culture Declared War on Human Fecundity

With steady regularity, news items appear in mainstream publications discussing male sterilisation or, in the conveniently obscure medical jargon, vasectomies. Although “discussing” is a stretch: despite the obligatory caveats about pain and permanence, the tone is uniformly affirmative. In July of this year, an article on BBC News ran under the headline: ‘Why I don’t regret choosing a vasectomy in my 20s.’ In May, a Guardian headline read: ‘My first thought after having a vasectomy: why aren’t more men having them?’ The Independent topped them both: ‘Why getting a vasectomy has made me feel more of a man.’ Critical commentary, to the extent that it can be found, is tucked away in harmless Christian corners of the internet.

Canadian province’s experiment decriminalizing cocaine and fentanyl sensationally FAILS as overdose deaths stay the same

A Canadian province’s experiment decriminalizing fentanyl in an effort to drive down overdose fatalities has failed, with the death toll unchanged by the pilot scheme.

Politicians in British Columbia (BC) believed that legalizing the synthetic opioid, along with other hard drugs including heroin, methamphetamine and crack cocaine, would be a ‘critical step’ towards allowing users to seek help without fear of being detained.

Under the program, which launched January 2023, people found carrying drugs below the 2.5-gram threshold would be guided by police to social support services instead of being arrested or charged.
