Of the nearly 46,000 students in Alberta schools who are temporarily in Canada, data provided to CBC News by some school boards shows that potentially thousands of children and youths’ study permits will expire by Sept. 30, 2026 — the day after Alberta Education takes a headcount to determine each school’s funding.

Villagers are fighting plans to move 83 asylum seekers into newbuild homes in a development dubbed ‘Migrant Street.’

They say they were told the new development would be affordable housing. But they have since learned that 21 homes have been earmarked for asylum seekers.

One migrant family has already moved in to the estate – but said they wished to leave because the development was too ‘remote’ and they had faced hostility from locals.

Canada arrives at a pivotal day for free trade with the U.S. and Mexico

OTTAWA — Like the cool corner dudes, the three Canada-U.S.-Mexico trading partners are acting nonchalant, urging the rest of us to chill ahead of Wednesday’s deadline that will set one of the world’s largest trading blocs on a new economic path — wherever that may lead.

Nothing to see here, Prime Minister Mark Carney effectively said on Tuesday about a July 1 virtual meeting on the trade deal’s renewal.

“We’re expecting a constructive exchange,” Carney shrugged to reporters in the northern Inuit community of Kuujuaq. “I wouldn’t expect any drama tomorrow,” he added, quipping, “I’m not looking for my pen.”

Instead of providing a balanced historical examination, the exhibit memory-holes key context — including Arab rejection of the UN partition plan and the full scope of the 1948 war — in favour of a politicized, one-sided narrative that focuses on catastrophe and “ongoing dispossession.” And I didn’t even have to visit the exhibit to reach this conclusion. The proof is right there on the museum’s website for anyone willing to compare it with the full historical record.
