GOLDSTEIN: It’s absurd for Jewish Canadians to treat Liberals as allies

A measure of how seriously Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberals take the unprecedented explosion of Jew hatred across Canada is indicated by their leisurely response to it.

On Feb. 4, they announced the creation of a “Ministerial Advisory Council on Rights, Equality and Inclusion” to replace the offices of the “Special Envoy on Preserving Holocaust Remembrance and Combatting Antisemitism” and the “Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia”, created by Justin Trudeau.

45% of Canada’s Jewish community voted Liberal in the last federal election according to the main post-election survey of Jewish voters.

Experts warn Trump may be driving wedges between provinces with threatened tariffs

Experts warn Trump may be driving wedges between provinces with threatened tariffs

OTTAWA – Experts are warning that U.S. President Donald Trump’s threatened new set of tariffs could drive wedges between Canadian provinces, allowing the U.S. to exploit regional grievances to force trade concessions.

The tariffs would have particularly heavy impacts on industries concentrated in B.C. and in small towns across Quebec.

“There’s an awareness that Canada can be a punching bag for the United States, but different parts of the country can be treated differently,” said University of British Columbia political scientist Stewart Prest.

Hamas’s Secret Weapon to Continue Ruling Gaza

Hamas’s Secret Weapon to Continue Ruling Gaza

Is Hamas preparing to contest the Palestinian parliamentary election scheduled for late November? If so, the United States and its European allies need to make one thing clear immediately: Hamas must not be allowed to participate.

The Iran-backed Palestinian terrorist group that carried out the October 7, 2023 massacre in Israel cannot be permitted to reinvent itself as a legitimate political party. After October 7, Hamas has no right to exist as a military organization. It should have no right to exist as a political organization either.

As tariff deadline nears, what does Trump want from Canada? And will he get it?

As tariff deadline nears, what does Trump want from Canada? And will he get it?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Canada is less than a week away from 50 per cent tariffs taking effect on nearly US$20 billion worth of exports to the United States, after the White House invoked the never-before-used Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930 to impose duties on more than 400 Canadian products beginning Aug. 19.

Trade watchers said the move was designed to create leverage and force Ottawa back to the negotiating table. Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Chief Negotiator Janice Charette have heeded the call, repeatedly showing up for meetings in Washington in recent weeks to try to head off the 338 tariffs and reach a deal on the Section 232 sectoral tariffs on steel, aluminum, and lumber.

The Left Has Overplayed the Race Card So Much That It’s Now Just White Noise

There’s an old saw in conservative circles that says, “When a liberal calls you a racist, that means you’re winning the argument.” For the most part, that’s true. Leftists shout “Racism!” reflexively, not thoughtfully. Also, their responses to conservatives are based on fictional evil caricatures that, in their minds, justify their unhinged emotional responses to anything we say or do.

DSA and Muslim Democrats agree on the enemy — not the endgame

Fifty members of the Democratic Socialists of America flew from New York to Michigan before the primaries. They came to support DSA candidates, but they also canvassed for a Senate candidate their own organization had never endorsed. Abdul el Sayed doesn’t call himself a socialist, and the DSA never put its name behind him. Its members showed up anyway.

Ontario ceases social assistance payments to illegal alien invaders

Ontario ceases social assistance payments to illegal alien invaders

Ontario is enacting new rules for social assistance payments so people without legal immigration status in Canada cannot receive the benefits.

Premier Doug Ford first vowed to make the change following media reports about a tribunal ruling that awarded Ontario Works payments to a man who came to Canada decades ago on a temporary work permit that has since expired.

Ford wrote in a social media post last month his government would always support people who have fallen on hard times, but “that doesn’t include people living in Canada illegally.”

It’s a start. But Ford is well aware of the demographic that wins him election.

A Wisconsin city spent millions on a grocery store. It didn’t go well.

A Wisconsin city spent millions on a grocery store. It didn’t go well.

After eight years of development and more than $8 million spent by the city of Madison, Wisconsin, Maurer’s Urban Market will open in the Bay Creek neighborhood later this month. Local officials have pitched the store as a measure to prevent a “food desert” in that part of town.

The truth: Maurer’s is right across the street from another grocery store. And within a mile of three others. How this glut came to be is a good illustration of why the government is not cut out for the grocery business.
