It is with great concern for some of my fellow countrymen, inching precariously toward the edge of utter lunacy, that I write this post.

Prime Minister Mark Carney this week, in an interview with the New York Times, went on record saying it would be “irresponsible” not to plan for the possible contingency of a military invasion of Canada by the United States. Unfortunately, Mr. Carney didn’t misspeak or fall victim to a cherry-picked quote taken out of context. His concern was later reiterated by Defence Minister David McGuinty and Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon.

Iran offers US deal to reopen Strait of Hormuz in seven days

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says his country has proposed a deal to the US that would see the Strait of Hormuz reopened within a week.

Araghchi told reporters at the UN in New York that this could be done “if the necessary conditions are met” and said these were contained within the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in June.

“The choice now rests with the United States,” he said, adding the plan was delivered to the US via Qatar.

Doug Ford downplays VW battery plant delay as EV strategy takes another hit

Premier Doug Ford is brushing off the latest shock to Ontario’s electric vehicle strategy as Volkswagen delays the opening of a massive battery plant south of London by two years, a reaction critics fear is naive.

“I’m not worried,” Ford said Friday after VW subsidiary PowerCo revealed the postponement until 2029 and said it has hired Canadian construction giant Ellis Don as general contractor of the $7-billion project near St. Thomas.

“What would make me worried is if they said they’re not building … that’s thousands of jobs for construction trades,” he told The Canadian Press and CityNews.

‘I’m not a bad guy’ – African migrant accused of raping 8-year-old girl in the French city of Brest

An African illegal migrant is accused of raping an 8-year-old girl in the French city of Brest in August 2026. He remains in pre-trial detention and has already been issued a deportation order.

The suspect is a 41-year-old man from the Comoros who lives in Le Mans without legal status and was visiting Brest. Prosecutors say the alleged attack happened in an apartment after the child’s mother had left. The girl also described a similar incident earlier in August.

Trump’s top trade envoy says U.S. ‘comfortable’ with state of relationship with Canada

U.S. President Donald Trump is “comfortable” with where things stand with Canada — his country’s once closest ally — and is in no rush to reach a new trade deal, according to his top trade envoy.

“The reality is President Trump is comfortable where we are on Canada,” United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said in a Friday morning interview with the American network CNBC.

“They call us now and then and we have good conversations about potential deals. But there’s no urgency on our side.”

I think the US just told Carney to go soak his head.

Afghan women are rounded up and dragged into a van by female Taliban morality police

Over a dozen Afghan women and girls were rounded up and dragged into a van by female morality police as part of the Taliban’s latest brutal crackdown.

Around 16 women were detained in Kabul’s Shah-e Do Shamshira area, US-based Afghan newspaper Kabul Now reports, with footage showing a woman – believed to be a Taliban official – attempting to force another woman into a vehicle.

The detained woman resists, while a male Taliban officer and several more women can be seen inside the van.

Canadians are right to care about sovereignty. But sovereignty means more than resisting pressure from Washington.

It means that Canadians, not foreigners, make the laws that govern Canada. Canadians pass, repeal, and amend our federal, provincial, and municipal laws. Sovereignty means little or nothing when outsiders gain a say in how Canadians live or what rules govern our affairs.

Winnipeg judge grants Iranian voyeur a conditional discharge to avoid deportation

A Winnipeg judge has granted a conditional discharge to an Iranian-born chemist so he can avoid deportation for surreptitiously and repeatedly filming the backsides of two women at the lab where they all worked.

Seyed Reza Mir Heidari, who pleaded guilty in Manitoba provincial court to two counts of voyeurism, is living in Canada on a work permit that was recently extended until April 2027. He has applied for permanent residency, but that application is on hold because of the voyeurism charges.

Shaykh Uthman ibn Farooq laid out a vision for an Islamic America during a livestreamed event at the Sufaraa Center in McKinney, Texas, last week. Authentic Ilm Mission, which hosted the event, has plans for a 40,000-square-foot facility near Plano, Texas, and used the livestream featuring Farooq to fundraise for the multipurpose school and Islamic community center.

“We love this country,” Farooq said. “We want good for this country. And that’s why we want Islam for this country, ’cause we think that’s the best thing. And we’re not going to be ashamed of that.”

Muslims Caught Transporting Kidnapped Teens Across US-Canadian Border

There’s been a great deal of focus on our border with Mexico, less so on the Canadian border, in part because of the sheer size of it and also because it hasn’t been as ‘hot’. But many of the incidents that we’ve had on the border have involved Muslims including two plots, one of which targeted LAX airport, and there seems to be a growing number of cases of Muslims transporting kidnapped teens across the border.

Students are finding their way to their classes, meeting their teachers and co-students, participating in frosh activities, joining campus groups and being presented with free student handbooks meant to serve as study planners featuring important dates for the academic year. These are all normal activities for Canadian university students, unless you attend Concordia University in Montreal.
